Cro Cop vs Overeem is on!

This should be an awesome fight! CroCop is looking to regain his mystique and Overeem has looked awesome at heavyweight. Could be a great battle for us to see. Any of you that haven't caught Dream yet, check it out, it is well worth the time and effort to see on HDNet.

Ricardo Mendoza at MMA Weekly is reporting--

Three bouts have been added to Dream 6 at the Saitama Super Arena on Sept. 23, which is headlined by the finals of the Dream Middleweight Grand Prix.

After months of talking and bad blood, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic will return to the ring as he takes on Dutch heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Cro Cop hasn’t seen action since Dream’s debut event, where he made easy work of Pancrase veteran Tatsuya Mizuno, stopping him with strikes. Overeem comes off a convincing submission victory over fellow Pride veteran Mark Hunt at Dream 5.

In an intriguing heavyweight showdown, Pride veteran Sergei Kharitonov faces off with K-1 veteran Mighty Mo. Kharitonov avenged an earlier loss to Alistair Overeem at K-1 Hero’s 10, stopping him with strikes, while Mo hasn’t seen mixed martial arts action in over a year since knocking out Ruben "Warpath" Villareal at K-1 Dynamite!! USA.

Korean judoka Dong Sik Yoon faces off with karate stylist Andrews Nakahara in the Dream Middleweight Grand Prix reserve bout. Yoon comes off a decision loss to Armenian striker Gegard Mousasi at Dream 4, while Nakahara was unsuccessful in his mixed martial arts debut, being submitted by Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba at Dream 2.

Already announced for the event are the semi-finals and finals of the Dream Middleweight Grand Prix with Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza meeting Zelg Galesic and Melvin Manhoef meeting Gegard Mousasi. Featherweights Hideo Tokoro and Atsushi Yamamoto are also set to battle.

time for the LHK to make a comeback. I hope Cro Cop gets himself back to old form. I’d still like to see him avenge those loses in the UFC

Overeem by whatever he wants. He seems so natural at HW. He’s going to tear it up. Pretty soon, he’ll be a top five guy and people will be afraid to face him.

Agreed

He’s on fire lately and I’d be kidding myself if I didn’t pick him to win. Although in my heart of hearts I really hope Cro Cop pulls it out with a highlight real knockout. I want him back in the UFC and beating AO in the shape he’s in I think would probably get him there. I wish AO would wind up with the UFC. I’m drooling a bit thinking about some of the matchups he could have.

Demolition Man in UFC

Now that would be cool. He’d definitely bolster the Heavyweight division. I’m sure he’d even earn his way up to a title shot. I know he’d beat the likes of Mir. That’s for sure. I could see him giving Nogueira some problems as well. Same with Couture. Same with Lesnar, as well. I’d like to see him there but I doubt he ever goes. Some of those former PRIDE guys have an unspoken bond about not going to the UFC. Some went there because they had no choice but most would rather not. Hell, listen to the way Joachim Hansen talks about the UFC. You’d think they raped him in a past life.

Well...

They did rape him—figuratively—on his contract when they bought PRIDE.

For some reason ...

I still think Hansen is happy not to be in the UFC. He’s a legit Lightweight Champion right now. No doubt about that. The guy is a true warrior though.
