War Machine Says (on Evan Tanner and the "Faggot" UFC)...
SO yeah one of his close friends just messaged me a few hours ago and let me know that the UFC sent NO ONE to speak at his funeral. He let me know how much this saddened the family and how very disappointed they were about it all. This is an EX CHAMPION of theirs, NOT some scrub that fought for them once and thats it. Are you trying to tell me he doesn't deserve any of the UFC brass' presence at his funeral? Doesn't deserve a single kind word or statement of gratitude for the services that he provided their organization? If it's true I think it's pretty fucked up. The UFC could have at least sent someone over to say "we were proud to have him as a fighter." Of course, he could just be pissed that the UFC let him go. He also goes on to say:
This also brings me back to the whole reason I was let go by them. It obviously wasn't because they thought I was offensive to the Tanners it was as I ALWAYS knew...it was because I spoke my mind about the organization and the way the treat their fighters.Yes War Machine, I'm sure that's the only (sarcasm) reason they let you go.
Update: I should clarify. I think it's pretty fucked up if it's true, because as I understand, the UFC didn't even send flowers or a card. I just would have like to seem something more than a picture at the beginning of a show.

Subject: Evan Tanner and the faggot ass UFC..From a bulletin he just posted on his Myspace. I pretty sure you have to add him as a friend before you can view the bulliten.
Body: So the UFC decided to let me go because of my statements after the death of Evan Tanner. They tried to make it look like I was insensitive towards Evan and that that was the reason I was being cut.
In all honesty my bulletin regarding Evan was bashing the UFC and the way they treat fighters and not negative to Evan in any way. if anything I was sticking up for Evan and the way he was mistreated by the UFC just like the vast majority of it fighters.
Anyway, since my bulletins and all the bullshit being talked about on the underground several of Evan Tanner's close friends and family members have been in contact with me. 99 percent of them were not mad at all and pretty much let me know that they knew where I was going with the whole bulletin and for me not to worry about hurting any of them directly.

Fucking bullshit if you ask me. This also brings me back to the whole reason I was let go by them. It obviously wasn't because they thought I was offensive to the Tanners it was as I ALWAYS knew...it was because I spoke my mind about the organization and the way the treat their fighters.
Actions speak louder than words and they can say what they want about why they were not present but to me it sure looks like they didn't give two shits about the guy.
Fucking sad.

I agree with him in that the way the UFC handled Evans death was a bit disappointing.
Also, I understand what he is saying about how the UFC treats its fighters – others have said the same, War Machine just has a one-brain cell way of saying it in the most offensive way possible.
Disclaimer: War Machine is an idiot. I am in no way defending him as a person.

You're pretty reasonable normally...
so I’ll ask you. I keep seeing people say they were disappointed with the way the UFC handled Tanner’s death. What would you have liked to see them do?

With the fight night that they dedicated, honestly, I would have liked to have seen either some small video like they eventually put on their website, or at least have the commentators say some words about him. Instead, it was (I heard) a small picture and “dedicated to” thing at the beginning that I missed because I was getting popcorn. Literally. And except for the first fighter whose name escapes me right now, the name Evan Tanner wasn’t even mentioned.
I don’t know what War Machine wanted, I can’t speak for him thank god, but I just feel the UFCs response was less than I would expect for a former champion and, really from all accounts, a decent guy.

Okay, so they weren’t really all that far from the mark then at least for you?

As I said
I felt the way they handled it (or didn’t handle it) was disappointing. I would have liked to have seen them do more.

Sorry.
I was just trying to determine how much more people were asking and it turns out not that much. So although they underdelivered by your standards, your standards didn’t call for too much more. That’s all.

If you call the difference between nothing and something to be not much, than that’s yours to carry. If you are asking questions intending to be a douche regardless of the answer, that’s also on you.

Ouch.
I thought we established they didn’t do “nothing.” They dedicated a show to him. What you wanted was slightly more time spent mentioning him during said show. That struck me as not much more. I’m not trying to be a douche. I was actually trying to gauge how much people like yourself thought they missed by. Apparently I misunderstood your position. My apologies.

I’m not going to get into how the UFC handled Tanner’s death.
War Machine is a complete and fucking moron for continuing his crusade against the UFC. Want to be blacklisted and have your career basically end before it begins? Keep this shit up!

Tanner
Why should they? i mean if i died in the same circumstances i wouldnt expect the company i work for to send somebody from the company to speak, i’d expect the friends i’d made there to come along and say something if they so wish but they wouldn’t be obliged.

Family Wishes.....
could it have been that the family of Tanner wanted to remember the MAN he was and not EVAN TANNER, UFC MW CHAMP. There is a lot more to these fighters than their jobs. They have personalities, families, friends etc. Tanner always said he didn’t like the limelight and the fuss. Perhaps his family thought that UFC being there would make it more of a media circus than a funeral and a time to grieve for the person they lost.
