Houston Alexander Must Win in Order to Keep His Job
It's rare for Dana White to come out and make it clear that a fighter will get cut if he loses, but he comes out and says it today to Kevin Iole:
UFC president Dana White, who isn’t shy about releasing a fighter, was adamant that Alexander needs to turn things around. “There’s no doubt about that,” White said. “He needs a way. He desperately needs a win. Another loss and he’s going to have to go out and start working his way back up to the UFC.”
I think a lot of people suspected this, and it shows that even though the guy just signed a 5 fight contract, he still needs to win. The UFC is very high on him if he can get a few wins, because he is popular and explosive. If he gets a big KO or two they will really get behind him.

He’s definitely exciting to watch. His chin and ground game are suspect. He would make for a great gate keeper.

I like Houston, but he has no credentials to be a gatekeeper. imo, a gatekeeper is someone who was a contender, or has beaten about everyone except for the top echelon. While Houston sending Jardine to the Moon, is one of my favorite highlights, it doesn’t put him at that level.
I will definitely be pulling for him tonight.

I wonder if he feels the same way about Alessio Sakara (because he should)

Aye, he should. Last call for alcohol for those two.

I agree
Sakara should have been gone.

I don’t know what Dana is talking about — I love watching Houston go to sleep!

If he gets taken down I would say it’s all but over.
I still love it when people ask him about his BJJ and he always brushes the question off with a “yeah, I been practicing all that stuff. I’m really good at that” or something to that effect. This is a guy that is absolutely clueless on the ground and seems to think he can just catch people standing. He needs to get with a real camp if he wants to survive in this game.
I think he wins this fight tonight in front of his hometown, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he got subbed or caught either.

Dana won't cut him...
He likes fighters who KO or gets KOed. That’s entertainment.
