This video is blocked at my job, can you tell me what’s it about.

Summary: Guy screams about hits and chicks. Or tits and hits. Or something along those lines. Then at one point screams “KIMBO SLICE”. Which actually made me guffaw. There lots of really gratuitous female skin and men punching each other without context, and a reference to “busted ears”.
Basically, it’s the lowest common denominator.

In the ring or in the cage
Any way you slice it
We love our jugs and pugs
Hard to get it up
When you get knocked down
Hits and chicks, hits and chicks
Kaboom, kablooey
Oh boy, hot fooey
Hits and chicks, hits and chicks
Hits and chicks, hits and chicks
Busted ears
Bodacious boobs
And one of the best knockouts in years
Not getting up when you get knocked down
Hits and chicks, hits and chicks
Kimbo Slice, Sam Peter, we love ’em
Hits and chicks, hits and chicks
[commits suicide]

The "Busted ears"
and “Kimbo Slice!” parts made me laugh the hardest.
I cannot believe this was put together (let alone approved) by a high-profile company like Showtime.

What the hell did I just watch? Is that a real ad? Or did someone with way too much time on their hands make that crap?
by AJB on Sep 12, 2008 12:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It’s an actual ad from Showtime.

I wish. This is from their official YouTube channel.

As advertising goes, this what you’d call an epic fucking fail. This makes me not want to watch ANYTHING of theirs, ever.

epic fucking fail
about says it all.
Unreally bad.

Holy shit. I thought it was some incredibly brilliant farce poking fun at a bunch of different things. But its a real ad!!?!?

Wow, sounds awful.

It was, and looked worse.

It sounds awful, too.
Probably worse than the looks.

doing that at 48 seconds? I mean, what the hell?

That was easily the “best” part.

Maybe they are trying a new approach to advertisement for MMA.
I didn’t too much like Affliction’s Hell/Dante’s Inferno ads.

They could try something like Head-On.

That IS a joke right?
That reminds me of that old bald man in the movie Boomerang w/Eddie Murphy coming up with the nasty commercial adds for their perfume….that ad was just short of deep throating the banana!

That was funny, I may have to rent that movie.

BTW, is anybody planning on doing a writeup about how this displays CBS and EliteXC’s terrible understanding of the market? I’m thinking about doing one.
by Michaelthebox on Sep 12, 2008 2:35 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I'd love to read that write-up.
I’d also like to know demographic information on MMA fans. Whatever there is, would be great to have compiled in one post to discuss. Compare it to NFL, MLB, NBA and Boxing fanbases, if possible. I just have no idea where to find that stuff.

Maybe they are trying to grab the low income market since UFC has upper and middle.

I wonder what advertising/marketing agency came up with this. I’d like to see their portfolio.

I will say...
More people are talking about this than any other EliteXC ad, ever.
by Chris Nelson on Sep 12, 2008 4:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I didn't
Even understand what it was an add for until they showed the wording at the end. Man, that was a fucking waste. Except for all the tits, that’s always a decent add. Dana must be laughing his ass off right now. This add is going to counter the juggernaut of the UFC hype machine? :P CBS/Showtime/EliteXC just don’t seem to get it.
That must have been what they came up with last night when they realized the show starts in a couple weeks and they have done “0” advertising.

Maybe due to budget cutbacks they got the work experience kid to do the promo. If that’s the case, he did a pretty good job.
I also wasn’t aware of the need to market to the 80’s British punk and ska MMA scene. Talk about niche market!

If I ever felt bad about giving EXC and CBS a hard time, that small amount of guilt is now purged from my system.

There are no words ... should have ... sent a ... poet
“Jugs and pugs” pretty much sums up why EliteXC doesn’t get MMA.
And was I the only one that heard it as:
Kaboom, kablooey
Oh boy, Bababooey.
Just sell the fights.
