Anyone remember Crazy Horse Bennett? Favorite Pride guy ever.
This guy isn’t quite War Machine – but pretty good nonetheless.

I’m sure everyone will be clamoring to get behind and support the guy who says he “belongs” with Hitler.
No idea who this guy is, but he already sounds like the kind of tool you hope gets ktfo quickly.

I hope the only parallel between those 3 that he is drawing is that they are dead.
Because he sounds like a P.o.S.
But other than that, does anyone else feel these are the two best coaches TuF has ever had? Saw both the “Meet the Coach” interviews and they both came off very respectful of each other and their jobs and both seem to take it seriously. I personally would rather learn from Nog just because I like his style and his tenacity more, but Mir is no slouch either and would be an excellent coach to have.

I heard there are a bunch of knuckleheads on the show this season, who do some extremely distasteful things, lol. So it should be a good season!
After hearing about some of the things that go on, but we dont see, I can understand why some of these guys are so unhappy with the house/living conditions.

That is really personal conflicts, not living conditions. A lot of these guys are young and immature. That is really what causes these issues.
by dnevil001 on Sep 12, 2008 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would chalk it up to the conditions. you are putting many guys in a relatively confined space with nothing to do in their free time. This is deliberate in order to create conflicts and thus ratings. They have nothing much to pass the time, so they end up pulling pranks and the like. i just think you are right about some being immature and thinking some things are acceptable, when they in no way are.
Also, the fighters were told if they damaged the house, they would be required to pay for the repairs. Not sure if they always have done that or it is a new rule.

Good point,
I do agree this is deliberate to ensure some drama. But if they are going to make these guys pay for damages and hopefully if they spooge on someone’s food some of this will go by the wayside. This has to be somewhat of a learn as you go process also. Finding out how they can still put on an entertaining show without damaging the reputation of MMA for the casual fan or fan that does not get into it much.
by dnevil001 on Sep 12, 2008 11:46 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with the fighters paying for any damage to the house. They need to show respect by taking care of the living arragements that have been provided for them.

yes, i really hope they tone that down some.
Of course, this is the same show that chastised guys for streetfighting and damaging the reputation of the sport, but has repeatedly showed the conflict.
I think it is just hard to balance doing things the right way and making the show dramatic and getting the ratings.

I would appreciate if they’d display the real side of these men. Share their upbringing and their achievements thus far and why this opportunity is so important to them. Every season we do see a few men who are serious about this and have placed a meaning to what they are trying to accomplish on the show. I’ll be honest, I don’t like the one’s who are on the show like it’s a fad or cool to be a fighter.

They know whats happening, and could easily step in and stop it. In fact I believe that if they DON’T stop it, they could face a huge lawsuit.
There was something several years ago on Big Brother (shut up…) where one contestant put someone elses toothbrush in the toilet and scrubbed. She was forced to tell him before he used it. Stuff like that could cause tons of problems.

Actually, several fighters from past shows, Mike Dolce for example have complained.
Don;t misunderstand, these guys get to live and train for free. get tons of clothing, etc.. But it is much harder to get something like egg whites, than it is vodka, for example.
Many of these guys aren’t 19 year old frat guys, they are men with wives and kids and such. living in close confines can get a little testy at times, as we have seen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment
Above is an article on the Stanford experiment that took normal people and told them that they were to act like prisoners and guards.
Those were just normal people. These are all alpha males jockeying for position, locked in a house with no contact with the outside world, fighting all day, and drinking free drinks all nights. On top of that they’ve seen how they are “supposed” to act through viewing previous seasons of the show.
As BJJ said, the conditions are optimum for trouble and they are filmed 24 hours a day.

Overall, I think the show brings new fans in and in that way, is good for the sport. It gives fighters opportunities to succeed at the sports highest level.
few people want to tune in and watch a college graduate reading a book or dropping some knowledge, lol. They want to see the other side of that person, when they lose control or are at their worst. Unfortunately, that is what makes the ratings for many viewers.
