Quote of the Day: Shinya Aoki Responds to Jake Shields
"Ah yea, I heard that the American, Jake Shields, is saying 'Aoki ran.' What the hell are you? A feudal lord? If you were some kinda genius like Michael Jackson, maybe I'd pay you some mind. But you? You can't say that."
-- Shinya Aoki, responding to claims by Jake Shields that Aoki had "no budo." More on budo (likely he means "bushido") here.

that is sweet!
I love it. I have no interest in Shields/Aoki — I like Aoki at lightweight just fine.
Shields is a great fighter, but a guy who declined to sign with the UFC and face the best welterweights in the world is hardly in a position to talk about warrior spirit.
THAT is the best thing I've read...
…in such a long time.

Isn't that
Akiyama’s nickname? I think it was a reference about him not being able to talk shit like Akiyama can, so don’t bother trying.
His nickname is “Michael Jackson”? If that’s true, it might just take over the top spot of worst mma nickname ever, surpassing ridiculous nicknames like “Muscle Shark” and “Ken Flo” and “J-Lau” and . . .
I thought his nickname was some japanese term for “flying submission master” or something like that.
feudal lord?
Michael Jackson?
Genius?
What the hell is going on, lol??

Japanese translations are hilarious,
especially when the speaker knows it’s going to be translated. Ichiro Suzuki, the baseball player, is notorious for dropping ridiculous quotes on his translators and making them do literal translations. He’s actually close to a genius, and his stuff comes off as bat-shit crazy sometimes, but then when you look back at it a year later it all makes perfect sense.
That’s what I think of whenever I read a quote like the one above. “This’ll make much more sense a year from now. Don’t worry about it, because your head might explode…again.”
There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
That's some funny shit.
If you were some kinda genius like Michael Jackson, maybe I’d pay you some mind. But you? You can’t say that.
Eat it, Jake!

More likely ‘Daimyo’ not Shogun. Shogun is the supreme military leader of Japan, and the Emporor is a figurehead. Daimyo is a feudal lord. Plus, a Daimyo can be a vassal to another Daimyo.
