Bud Light Signs Chuck Liddell and Anderson Silva as Official Spokesmen
A few weeks ago, when Anheuser-Busch was sold, there was some speculation in the MMA community that this could spell trouble for the UFC's deal with Bud Light. It looks like that is not the case, because Bud Light has signed Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddell as official spokesmen:
Anheuser-Busch is stepping up its involvement in MMA by making UFC middleweight champion Andersion "The Spider" Silva and former UFC light heavyweight titleholder Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell spokesmen for the Bud Light brand.
The campaign is set to hit 4,000 convenience stores throughout the country immediately as well as include billboards and television commercial appearances.
I wonder if this is part of a mainstream push to hype a fight between the two, or just a strategic decision to focus on the old knock out king and the new knock out king. I certainly look forward t seeing a Bud Light commercial with the two of them.

This is a Liddell dream job. I wonder if they’re paying in dollars or beers?

Well I really like their ads, I can imagine a dozen scenarios myself putting the fighters in humorous situations for a commercial.

Surprised
Thought Liddell would get signed by Sudafed first.

One would think that he'd be able to get that fixed
by now. Maybe he’s just waiting until his MMA career’s over before he gets the work done. Or maybe it’s become part of his persona.

Interesting that they would have Anderson Silva as their spokesman. He doesn’t speak english.

It's a beer commercial,
they’ll probably have six words total. He can figure those out without too much trouble.

I’m really interested to hear the extent of their sponsorship and just how much they will be utilized and in what mediums.

If Silva won’t appeal to American drinkers, he will to a Brazillian audience. The soon-to-be approved Anheuser-Busch InBev after all will have a Brazillian subsidiary (AmBev). Maybe they’re grabbing him now with the goal of eventually getting him to promote American beer in Brasil (if that will ever work).

Interesting thought and that might actually be one of their long term thoughts but right now I think this is primarily to capitalize on the free marketing they will be getting as the UFC does everything in its power to promote Anderson as the baddest man on the planet.

![Tito Ortiz says he had bills to be paid and Chuck Liddell was an alcoholic:
"I have no more back problems, but other things started coming about," Ortiz said. "The first week of training (for UFC 106), I got bounced on my head. I had C6 and C7 discs pressing on my spinal cord. I shouldn't have fought. But when you take 18 months off and bills have to be paid? I'll suck it up."
"Two weeks before the fight, I was wrestling with one of my partners, and we collided heads. I fractured my orbital bone. I don't remember the weigh-ins. I don't remember the fight. All I remember was the beginning of the third round."
... "I think [Liddell] had a problem," Ortiz said. "A lot of people go through addiction. I think his deal was he was an alcoholic. He loved to party." "He's been sober since November, and he looks like a different person. It's awesome. I'm proud of him – really proud of him."
