WVR: "Sengoku 4" Fight Card

Make your predictions or call an upset for August 24th:

Non-Tournament Bouts:
Takanori Gomi (28-3) vs. Pang Sung Hwan (5-1)

Moise Rimbon (12-7-3) vs. Peter Graham (0-1)

Frank Trigg (16-6) vs. Makoto Takimoto (4-4)

Pawel Nastula (1-3) vs. Yang Dong Yi (2-0)

Valentijn Overeem (25-22) vs. Kazuo Takahashi (28-23-3)

First Round of Lightweight Tournament:
Eiji Mitsuoka (13-5-2) vs. Rodrigo Damm (8-1)

Ryan Schultz (20-9-1) vs. Mizuto Hirota (9-2)

Clay French (16-2) vs. Satoru Kitaoka (20-8-9)

Kazunori Yokota (6-1-3) vs. Bojan Kosednar (6-1)

The Kitoaka vs. French fight should be relatively competitive and if you'll notice, (former?) IFL lightweight champ Ryan "The Lion" Schultz will be competing in the lightweight tourney. It'll be interesting to see how his wrestling translates in the ring against Japanese opponents.

It's not DREAM, but it's absolutely worth a look.

Kitaoka is going to beat French and I would think he or Schultz would be favored to win the tournament. He was a ball of fast twitch muscle fiber at 170, he’s going to be positively Sherk-like at 155, but with awesome leglocks instead of lay-n-pray.

Sometimes

the japanese put some really inexperienced fighters against MORE experienced ones. Case in point.. Peter graham 0-1 vs. Moise Rimbon. Rimbon is a veteren of over 20 fights. Seems a little unfair.

Graham is a really experienced kickboxer with K-1. I predict first round upset by ROLLING THUNDER.

Funny

I was just thinking about how incredibly even most the matches are.

I am actually looking pretty foward to this card especially the Lightweight Tournament. They might not be the biggest names in MMA’s LW devision like Dreams had in there tournament but all the fighters are pretty dam solid fighters with good records. It should take for a good tornament ?

Gomi's Fight

also I am not calling a upset in the Gomi-vs-Pang Sung Hwan fight. But I think Pang Sung Hwan is going to give Gomi a fight and not be a cake walk. He is a pretty good fighter who comes to bang, you can see that buy his Depp fights. If Gomi did not train and thinks this will be a cake walk like in the Diaz fight there is always that chance of a huge upset hear ? It Should be a good intresting fight more then people are giving it credit for.

The Lion

I have been fortunate enough to see most of Schultz’s fights in the IFL on HDNet. His performance against Horodecki (sp) was pretty intense. I like his agression and striking ability. I do not know that much about Hirota, but I am pretty excited for this fight and the rest of the tourney.
