"We know how to beat Anderson Silva," Patrick Cote recently told The Fight Network radio.
"The only way to beat him is to push the pace. Go forward all the time."
"You can't let him get confident and comfortable in the centre of the Octagon," says Cote. "You have to push the pace for five minutes every round. If I do that, I can catch him. I'll take care of him."

I have never seen Patrick Cote push the pace on anyone before in his life. He was scared to open up against Scott Smith and Almeida. No way he pushes the pace against Anderson.

He was afraid to push on Scott Smith, fresh off one of the greatest come from behind KOs of all time, and Almedia, one of the best grapplers on the planet, and you generalize his entire life? Have you seen any of his fights besides those? Tell Leben, Doerkson, McFedries, Jason Day and Kendall Grove how afraid he was of them.

silva vs cote.
Zeroword: i have watched Cote since his begining and everything you wrote appears to be correct.Still,i would love to see A.Silva laid out, stiff.Cote definately has the power to do it.,but,i am not sure if he has the ability to down the sprinter-counterpuncher.Silva is not unbeatable,he just has great skill in luring others into his game and/or causing his opponents to become flatfooted. All that being said,i have no dislike for A.S., I just enjoy some of these fighters taste a ko defeat and watching how they deal with it.As far as getting hit with clean shots,i have not seen his face tested in a way to impress me to the least. Clinch, knees, and scurried, running away movement is all i have seen from him.but he is good at these techniques.Of course,i could be talking out my ass:that is always a possibility. At any rate,i would just like to justify the money spent from my wallet. Not this b.s. like the tensed up,no defense of the"sandman". The result is not going to ruin my day…i just want to know how much beer to buy to enjoy or not enjoy the matchup.great site.

Who knows, if he fights like he did in those fights, he might last some rounds. Hopefully it turns out to be a decent fight and not just a blowout.

What's he supposed to say?
I’m not picking on you, or even Cote, but what in the heck is he supposed to say going into this fight?
Cote: I’ve gotta come up with some quotes, guys.
Cote’s Friend #1: Well, dude, we hate to tell you this, but you’re f***ed.
Cote: No, really?!?
Friend #2: Yeah, dude. This guy’s like..umm..impossible to beat. Did you see what he did to that LHW?
Cote: Man, I’m glad I keep you guys around. You’re so helpful.
Friend #1: Sorry man, we just felt like you should hear it straight.
Friend #3: Hey Pat, there’s no brews in the fridge, WTF?!
Cote: God dammit, would you guys shut the hell up?! I’ve gotta come up with some quotes to hype this fight!
Friend #2: But Pat, I’ve been watching this guy’s fight replays, and there’s just no way…
Friend #1: No doubt. I mean, his fights never go the distance, he’s so comfortable in there that he makes it look easy, and he’s always pressing the attack by moving forward. There’s really nothing you can do with him, he’s just too strong.
Cote: You know what, get the hell out of my house, all of you!
Friend #3: But we already ordered pizza, and I need beer for this headache…
Cote: GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!!!
Friend #2: sigh Alright, let’s go, guys.
Friend #1: Yeah, looks like Pat needs a time-out.
Friend #3: Aww man, f***in’ weak.
Cote: (slams door behind them)
Cote: (thinks about what Friend #1 said about Silva)
Cote: (shrugs)
Cote: I guess that’ll have to do, I’ll just tell them that I can stop his entire gamplan. Sounds cocky enough, and God knows cocky works for Lesnar…

Cote speaks a grain of truth...
if you consider the fact that Anderson seems to like to feel out his opponent at first and get warmed up to the fierceness of the fight. Well, if Cote keeps attacking without giving Silva a chance to find his range, then he might land a couple shots. Others have landed shots on the Spider in the Octagon. I think Cote’s point is that he needs to find a way to control the fight from the start and if it goes to the ground, maybe keep going forward as Lutter did (except for the tapping to strikes part).

He might land a couple of shots…that do nothing. When have you ever seen Anderson hurt standing? Never. He’s too elusive and when he does get hit, he doesn’t even flinch. This is going to look exactly like the Leben/Irvin fights.

Osmar Teixeira really laid it on him, and Hendo was able to slow him down with bombs before getting jacked up.

I don’t know what fight you watched, but I didn’t see Henderson slowing down Silva with his striking at any point in the fight. Hendo landed a bomb or two that Anderson didn’t even seem to feel.

harder sell: selling ice cubes to eskimos or selling a 44.95 PPV with a 2 minute max main event?

I love how all these guys have the secret to beat Anderson. I have my own secret. The way to beat Anderson Silva is to make sure you win.

this fight to set up a revenge match
The only importance of this fight is to set up a revenge match via GSP.
Anderson is looking to even fight GSP at a catch weight below 185.

Gsp vs A.Silva.
I love the thought. In my opinion,Gsp just too fast for Silva. Gsp: watch for the clinch, knees, for Silva to run in a circle will issuing strikes and, maybe,a telegraphed toe. Silva wear a bigger, more cushionie diaper. I hope this happens.
