Two Additions to the BloodyElbow.com Family
A welcome and congratulations are in order for two new members of the BloodyElbow.com family: Mike Fagan and Chris Nelson, both of whom will be joining this site as Special Contributors. Both are great writers on any number of subjects, but we really believe Chris' keen eye for news and Fagan's gambling knowledge/FightLines will make the content on this site head and shoulders above the competition. Please join me in congratulating both men!
Let me also say the search for talent is not over. If you're interested in writing for this site, the FanPosts section is your place to work. Think of it as the location for everyone to comment and talk, but also for BE staff to discover new talent. Some of the best writers on staff got their start in the FanPosts/Diary section of the website and I suspect that's where the next generation of writers will come from.
Let me also thank everyone who posted over the last few weeks and expressed interest in writing. There were a lot of really great writers and hardcore MMA fans to pick from, so the choices weren't easy. And even though we were only able to extend an invitation to two individuals, that doesn't mean you aren't a good writer or should stop trying to land a writing gig. I've established and tried to launch several blogs, all of which failed. This is truly the first blog I've run that's ever been successful and the reason is largely due to the fact that it took me a while to learn how to do this the right way. Anyone can make things happen for themselves if they work hard enough, so please do not take any decision we made as an indictment of your abilities. If you want it, go get it. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks for all the kind words.
I do want to add something that Luke touched on. For anyone that is interested in writing here (or any other blog), here’s some advice: write. Write all the time. Learn how to format well, check your spelling and grammar, try to use active verbs. The more you put into it, the more you see what works, and the better your writing gets.
Oh, and watch a ton of MMA. :)

Let me touch on this also...
first off…congrats to Mike and Chris. Aside from having 2 Mike’s on staff and no longer being able to just say “hey Mike what do you think?” in e-mails to the team this is going to be a great thing for the site.
Second, seriously keep posting fanposts…etc. Believe it or not the staff spends a lot of time e-mailing back and forth on the kind of stuff we’re seeing in the fanposts and looking for people who would be the right fit with the staff. If you keep posting and like Mike said learn formatting, be a good self editor and write in an interesting way you’re going to get our attention.
