Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

Quote of the day

"Rampage wants a rematch.  Forrest said he'd give him a rematch.  A rematch would probably be good for everyone involved."

UFC President Dana White, responding to a post-fight press conference question about a possible rematch.

I don't believe

You know, as soon as I heard that Forrest was fighting Rampage I thought, “Damn, Forrest has got a chance to win this.” I was there when he beat Shogun in Anaheim. I was wearing my PrideFC shirt when people were coming up to me that night asking me how I was feeling now that all my Pride fighters were getting their ass kicked by UFC fighters. I tried to tell them that they didn’t understand what just happened: that Forrest beating Shogun was waaaay bigger than what their minds could wrap around. I tried telling them that Forrest just beat one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world but they weren’t buying it.

As much as I’m upset that Rampage lost, I’m not surprise that Forrest won. I’m looking forward to the rematch.

If Fedor loses to Sylvia, then I’m definitely never gambling on MMA again.

I haven’t yet seen the fight, so there isn’t really much I can say… from all the reports I read, Forrest legitimately had Rampage hurt with a leg kick from the outset…But it also says that Rampage had Forrest rocked a couple times; then again, Forrest had some sub attempts…some people seem to think the fight was fixed. I myself have said on this forum leading up to the fight, that I thought Dana White would love to have Forrest win, for business reasons, because he is more marketable to the UFC’s fan base than Rampage. Either way, I can’t picture the fight being fixed. I don’t like Dana White, but I can’t see him stooping to the level of his “competition” (EliteXC). Forrest is a good fighter, with a $hitload of heart, and seems to be a hell of a guy. Rampage is as well, and although he lost, his stock can only improve with the organization, and with the fans. And he’ll get another shot. The UFC promotional wheel will start turning again, being pushed along with Dana’s new Golden Boy, Forrest Griffin. Everybody wins.

I dont think the fight was fixed. After watching the show and seeing this fight, I am convinced Rampage has a terrible MMA coach (Juanito?). This is the same guy who told Kongo to Ground and Pound Herring remember?
