Report: UFC Releases Jesse Taylor
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving character:
A report in the July 29 print edition of the Wrestling Observer has confirmed rumblings that middleweight Jesse Taylor was dropped by the UFC for the second time in the span of four months following his loss at UFC Fight Night 14 to C.B. Dollaway.
A member of Team Quest in Temecula, Taylor’s overall MMA record fell to 6-3 at UFN 14 by submitting to Dollaway at 3:58 of round 1 after being caught in a Peruvian necktie.
While UFC officials were said to be disappointed by the loss, the Observer indicates that Taylor’s comments about Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the wake of Jackson’s arrest by the Costa Mesa Police Department earlier this month is what did him in.
It's not that I agree with the UFC defenestrating fighters who dare to speak out against their poster children. It's that Taylor's particular comments were beyond the pale, moronic and the sort that comes from a guy who will likely be a constant liability. For him to completely ruin his own repreive with his ridiculous comments in addition to getting caught drinking after telling Dana White he joined AA is plenty of reason for him to be jettisoned. Losing by a rare submission on national television is merely addition insult to injury, quite literally.
My thoughts on this matter: good.

Don’t care about him as a fighter and he isn’t ready for the big league yet.
Glad to see UFC cleaning house.

Does anyone have a link to what he said about Rampage? I missed it.
Totally agree on the decision—nothing more then a dumb goon, IMHO.

When I first saw him on TUF, and heard him speak, he struck me as an all brawn, no brain type. He’s a very physically strong guy, but you have to have a little common sense to make that power work for you. Good move by the UFC. A guy like that destroys the image they are trying to build. Maybe he’ll get his act together. Unfortunately, I ve known guys like that, and most of them just wound up self destructing.

What the hell was this kid thinking buy saying this ? I can’t help but think he was probably drinking when he made these comments he knew dam well his ass was skating on thin Ice with Dana and the UFC. I mean if this were me and this was my so called dream like he said countless times and they gave me another chance I would not do or say anything that would rub the UFC the wrong way. What thise comes doen to is he only has himself and the Bottle to blame for his problems.

Alls I can say is: great. No room for guys like this in our sport, much less the biggest stage in the sport. For every intelligent, hard-working, stand-up guy who has paid his dues and done the right things for the sport there’s a guy like him that needs weeding out. Good riddance..

breaking the camel's back
I think most people tuned into his fight with Dollaway hoping to see him get knocked out/submitted. JT is not an exciting fighter, he says all of the wrong things, and is not ready for the big time—the UFC is better without him. Having said that, I don’t think that ripping on Rampage is a firable offense.

Did the article say specifically that he was fired for his comments about Rampage?

![According to this translation of a passage from Takanori Gomi's blog, the Japanese lightweight free agent has been in talks with Zuffa while in Las Vegas for the Pacquiao-Cotto fight, aided by his friend Tito Ortiz. Gomi says that if talks with Zuffa fall through, Strikeforce is another option, and that he wants to have a deal in place to start the new year.

[UPDATE] It looks like the post has gone missing from Gomi's blog (that, or the quote was fabricated), so take this with a grain of salt for now. However, Gomi was most definitely in Las Vegas this past weekend for the big fight.](http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/86199/20091102045748_200910302479_small.jpg)
