Comedy Central's Root of all Evil returned for its second season last night and I am loathed to admit that I watched it. Why pray tell did I sit through an awful show whose laugh track is so painfully obvious and awkward (we can see the audience and they are NOT laughing!). The reason why I watched, is that the debate was Blogging versus Ultimate Fighting. Now I was relived to note that 'ultimate fighting' doesn't really exist anymore but its not like Comedy Central to have a fact checking department.
However since I am a blogger as well I was fucked no matter what the verdict was. Do I write about pure evil or am I pure evil while I write? This is a tough existential question for a twenty something to deal with, I had flashbacks to required philosophy courses about Kant and Nietzsche.
Luckily the Lewis Black was there to provide a reasonable verdict (you can see the highlights here). Black's unique perspective pointed out that "ultimate fighting is violent and gay at the same time" while "blogging is like masturbating into a mirror while videotaping yourself so you can watch it later while masturbating." Thankfully the verdict came down that blogging is the root of all evil. Now if you will excuse me I have to go the bathroom where I have a full length mirror.
