Tons of U.S. Olympic Wrestling Media Coverage
I hate to borrow so much from another blog's post, but Chicks Heart Fights did a great job at compiling some recent coverage:
- T.C. Dantzler in the Sun-Times
- Jake Deitchler in USA Today
- Henry Cejudo in the Arizona Republic
- A visit by Cejudo and Deitchler to the offices of ESPN the Magazine
- Steve Mocco in USA Today
- Dremiel Byers in the Charlotte Observer
- Ali Bernard in the Pioneer Press
- Randi Miller in the Kansas City Star
- Best of all, you can download Doug Schwab wallpapers at the Des Moines Register.
Since the networks decided to not show any judo, perhaps we still have wrestling. Get cised.

Early Recruiting
For years WWE used to watch for big ncaa and olympic wrestling stars to try to recruit them as prospects, because there was no other way to make money for them. It would be prudent for the UFC to look out for future prospects coming out of these games. Some of boxing biggest stars came out of the olympics.
Most world class amateur boxers are expecting to go into a pro career. The only ones that aren’t are guys who are in their mid 30s from Ex-Soviet states and Cubans. Most of the top names in the Ams are turning pro or have already done so since the Olympic team was picked. Amateur wrestling is an entirely different story, and MMA has been pulling from its ranks since the days of Beneteau and Severn.
