A Thank You to The Junkies/Big O & Dukes
Big thank you to the morning and midday rotations at 106.7 WJFK. "The Junkies" in the morning and "Big O & Dukes" have been nothing but supportive of BloodyElbow.com and MMA in general. As you can see, the Junkies even gave "MMA Nation" a plug on their very own website.
"Big O & Dukes" are on vacation, but they've also been nothing but supportive in plugging the website and giving my dumb ass TONS of air time. So while those two are probably chilling on some beach somewhere and won't read this, thanks anyways, guys.
BTW - "The Junkies" did an hilarious interview with Rampage Jackson this morning. Listen to the whole thing here. If you love racial humor, there's plenty here to go around.

Huh
Racial humor? Is that the phrase for it? I think you were using the wrong ending there…

To each his own. Everyone hates everybody else’s local morning radio shows when they’re from different cities.

I know these guys can be entertaining, I just don’t think this interview was very good.

Oh wait!
I get it! It’s funny because they’re idiots!
See, for those that didn’t notice, they make fun of Rampage, call him retarded, point out that he didn’t know the words “hobnob” or “pacifist” (though I thought it sounded like he didn’t hear them on that one) and then they mispronounce the word “recoup.” Nice.
I thought it was bad when those jackasses were on the mornings and I had to stop listening to my favorite radio station on my way into work, but then they ran WHFS into the ground and left me listening to “Nueve Nueve Punto Uno, El Zol! Siempre de Fiesta para El Zol!” full time. Good work fellas. Glad to see you’ve capped off your fantastic career with a healthy dose of racism to match the stupidity.
The sooner the ground swallows these buffoons up, the happier I’ll be.

Wait, Luke has a girlfriend? And a dog? Or he used to, and then somebody shot the dog and stole the girl? I’m confused.

I don’t enjoy listening to a bunch of local hacks shit all over one of the best fighter’s in MMA. He took the time for the interview, and all they bring to the table are a bunch of low brow racist jabs and ridicule.
Not cool. I’m looking forward to your show though! And hoping you can show your guests a little more respect than these guys.

Hilarious
Hey Luke, just like you said – It looks like the hate is coming from people who are in love with other morning shows. Just like jemaleddin eventually revealed, it seems his venom is more for the loss of WHFS than the meat of the interview.
I mean seriously guys – Sure it’s not that informative and the guys really don’t display any kind of knowledge of MMA, but I haven’t heard Rampage be so candid in an another interview. I mean – Some of you have said that the DJs took advantage of him or something, but who’s to say that’s not how Rampage just normally talks and acts with his boys?
I honestly can’t imagine that Rampage is dumb enough or not confident enough in himself to tell them to F off if he REALLY felt attacked or insulted. Thanks for bringing this podcast to my attention Luke – Wouldn’t have heard it otherwise.

Actually
I disliked them from their start at WHFS, but wasn’t aware that these were the same guys until I looked them up AFTER I finished listening. I don’t listen to a morning show – which is what I liked about WHFS back in the mid-90s: good music is what I want on my way to work, not some dipshit either flirting with girls or daring his friends to eat something questionable on the radio where I can’t see any of it anyway.
But my point stands: those guys are dumb as rocks. And I don’t think they took advantage of Rampage: I’d say he came out smelling like a rose and they looked like clowns. I just think that if you’re going to invite somebody on your show, you ought to treat them with some respect – unless you’re having them on ostensibly to screw with them, a la Joe Buttafuoco or Scott McClellan. Then they know they’re coming on as a hostile witness.
And there’s no excusing nor denying that that was some racist shit. You might find it funny, but that doesn’t make it any less racist.

let me give you the american heritage definition of racism.
The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

At no point in the interview did an interviewer believe that race accounts for a difference in human character or ability. Well maybe you are right cause they did say the blacks are better basketball players and can jump higher. So I gues you could say they were racist against white people.

Get a Life Everyone
Anyone with 4 oz’s of perception can tell Rampage is playing right along with them.
Some people here need to get the PC panties out of their collective ass cracks and see that interview for what it was. It was four guys, who enjoy MMA, engaging in entertaining banter with one of the best fighters out there. The bias all the haters are showing is about as obvious as Forrest’s ears.
Win-Win for all involved. Great Job Junks and Great Job Rampage!

Just to be clear, I didn’t fail to enjoy the program because I found it somehow offensive. I didn’t enjoy it because I didn’t think it was any good.

“The bias all the haters are showing” is what? Against Rampage? Forrest? Racists? Or just people who aren’t funny? Because your comment doesn’t spell it out at all.
But of course Rampage is playing along: a) he knows he can beat the crap out of those idiots, b) it’s his job to be an ambassador for the sport, and c) he’s a hell of a lot funnier than they are. Just because he played along didn’t make them funny (because they aren’t) and it didn’t make what they had to say tolerable.
And please: if you don’t trust ME that it’s racist, how about the fact that the idiots on the show kept saying, a) this is some racist shit we’re saying! and b) how they wouldn’t say that shit to his face. Here’s a general rule for showing people respect: any time you don’t have the balls to say something to somebody’s face, you ought to keep your trap shut.

Your bias as in the kind when someone claims TOO much they are not racist. As the saying goes, thou doth protest too much.
You obviously dont like the Junks to being with. We get that. But what’s even more funny is your soap-box stance, thinking that racial humor = racism … and then writing paragraphs about how everyone else is wrong.
As if we really care what your overly PC self thinks?

Oh! I’m racist because I don’t like racist humor. AWESOME. Great point – seriously. Kids, stay off crack.
Again: they said it was racist. Are you disagreeing with them?
And: if you don’t care what other people think, the internet is probably the wrong place for you. Hanging out in the comments doesn’t seem like the place for somebody who doesn’t want to hear another viewpoint.
