Icon Sport: Hard Times Preview
"Icon Sport: Hard Times"
Saturday, August 2nd, Honolulu, HI
5PM Hawaii Start Time
(8PM PST / 11PM EST)
Kala Kolohe Hose vs. Rolando Dominique (Non-Title Fight)
- Icon Sport Heavyweight Champion Kala Kolohe Hose takes on NFL safety Reggie Tongue's brother, Rolando Dominique. Dominique posts a complete record of 6-1, and is coming off a 1st round KO win. Fight is at catch weight of 180lbs.
Mark Oshiro vs. Bao Quach (140 lbs. North American Title Fight )
-Hawaii's "Bantamweight Chuck Liddell" Mark Oshiro steps up to fight streaking, high-ranked vet Bao Quach for the Icon title.
Phil Baroni vs. Ron Verdadero
-Two fighters at career crossroads. Verdadero is an always-game vet who started fighting for Icon when it was still called Super Brawl. Plain and simple...Baroni needs this win, and Verdadero is not a push-over. Fight to be held at 175lbs.
Ross Ebanez vs. Keoni Bryant (Icon Sport 170 lbs. State Title)
-BJ Penn's MMA vet Ross "Da Boss" Ebanez takes on Hawaii's 170lb shooting star, Keoni Bryant for the local title.
Sydney Silva vs. Hideto Kondo
-Brazilian transplant Silva, who now calls Hawaii "home," takes on "Mach" Sakurai's 18-year old phenom training partner, Kondo. Silva relinquished his Icon 170lb title to drop to 160lbs. Mach Sakurai will corner Kondo for his debut fight.
I'm trying to find out if this card will be streamed on ProElite.com, like "To Hell and Back" was.

If Elite XC has a deal with Icon, why don’t they just broadcast the show on Showtime as part of the challenger series? Go with Icon’s production and just ship over the booth crew.
Could be Showtime doesn't want it
Or it could be a timing issue.
Either way, Oshiro vs. Quach is going to be boss.

I predict the winner of Oshiro and Quach will face Wilson Reis for the EliteXC 140lbs. “Bantamweight” championship.
