Official: International Fight League (IFL) Down for the Count
From IFL Senior VP, Joe Favorito:
I apologize for this mass email but I wanted to take a second to let you know that as of July 31 my role at the IFL will be no more as the company goes into its final stage of being sold and/or closed down. We are very proud of what we did here in just over two years, building a brand from nothing into something that people in the industry and outside of the industry actually noticed, and I enjoyed working with so many different people and helped tell some great stories. At the end of the day sometimes the finances don't make sense, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. The good news is I think we have gotten all our good junior people placed in some great spots, so we are pretty proud of that. Even our interns landed in good places.
In the end, not every business venture can thrive. We all know why the IFL failed, so there is no point in rehashing that now. But I will always acknowledge that the IFL did, by and large, treat the fighters, fans and media very well. They produced some great action and memorable moments. I suspect others will learn from the example they set. Ultimately, that's a good thing.

They had a lot of good fighters and some great fights. With the recent wave of guys going to the UFC, we need to see Matyushenko back in there. He may not be right at the top but he is too good to be any where else.

To bad.
They wound up with a superior product compared to a lot of others out there, but it was just to late getting there.

Nevertheless, I’m bracing myself for a flood of IFL retrospectives from all corners of the MMA blogosphere.

I just don’t have it in me to say much more than we already have.

Affliction comes about just as the IFL dies out. Ah, the circle of life.
