A Word About FanPosts and BloodyElbow.com's Technology
So as you can see in the right hand corner, any FanPost that gets five people to "recommend it" gets the spotlight. To recommend any post, simply click on the title of it and below where it says "Add Your Comment" is a series of buttons, one of which reads "Rec" and has a green arrow pointing up next to it. Click the Rec button to recommend it for other.
I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this technology. It's not going to put any man on the moon, but the FanPosts allow for more participatory discussion from Bloody Elbow readers. And the recommending technology allows everyone to see that which is considered to be the most noteworthy.
Recently, there have been a tremendous amount of FanPosts that are as good as anything on the front page. In fact, it was in the FanPosts that BOTH Rampage stories got first play. I read everything there and encourage you all to do the same. There's some fantastic stuff going on.
No one on staff here is going to think of it all and the readers of this site are the best of any MMA site on the web. So keep us honest, be new and original or just post a thought of relative insignificance. No matter what, fostering a community of intelligent, informed and civil discourse is what will, over the long run, set us apart from any other site. In fact, can you name any other MMA site that offers a feature like the FanPosts? Nope, you can't and no plain messageboard is going to cut it.
BTW - you can also "rec" any comment simply by clicking on the Action button first. If enough people rec any one comment, a green light will appear next to it letting people know this is something they should give particular attention to. Cool stuff.
UPDATE: I need to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure if a regular post on the front page gets 5 or more recs, it gets bumped up to the top. Stay tuned.

Great stuff.
The whole FanPosts idea is the reason I signed up here.
I thought this is something different from anywhere else.
I really liked it and wanted to be a part of it to support it.
Same
Same here, but I can’t actually think of anything to write about :)
Still a great feature though.
I knew what recs signfied, but I didn’t know what the ramifications of numerous recommedations were. Thanks for the public service announcement. FanPosts are an extremely cool feature.
Hey, this piece has 2 recs. Well, it was very well written and insightful.

I’m pretty stoked by the fan post feature. As soon as the bar exam is over and I have time to sit down and write I plan on really exploring the studio space with the cow bell that is my thoughts on MMA.
Thanks for the outlet.
Where in NC are you Lucas?

How to recommend a comment. I see the one for the original post, just not the commentators. When I click on their individual headline I don’t see what your speaking of, in referance to the green arrow. Plus, what if they don’t have a headline?
I'm very confused
To rec a comment, click on actions. Then when that opens up, click on Rec.
