Inside MMA
Has never invited me.
Sooner or later I’m going to make these people realize that’s not in their best interest. Bank on it.
In a word…NO.
But they don’t need to compete right now, in fact, going into battle unprepared against a well prepared opponent, may be foolish.
They just need to work to compete with all the other promotions out there for #2, establish themselves, then they can try to compete with the big dog.
"They said you was hung!!"
"And they was RIGHT!"
Heh, that was way more fluff than I expect coming from MMAPayout, but I guess it wasn’t Swift himself. The Bodog PPV is a red herring, obviously that had more to do with their inept marketing than Fedor’s perceived lack of popularity. I’m not saying its going to be a runaway success, but a lot of people seem to be making dubious comparisons to failed promotions like WFA and Bodog, when clearly Affliction is putting on a far superior show, and doing a far better job of promoting it
I agree that it’s a red herring, but for a different reason. The Bodog event took place in Russia and was, by all accounts, a success over there. Though I still don’t expect them to rival the UFC in terms of pay per view buys.
Affliction putting on a high level show headlined by Fedor (with a superfight lined up against Couture in the future) along with the synergistic marketing of all of those Affliction T-shirts that have become like a plague… I think that their long term prospects are quite good.
