"UFC: Silva vs Irvin" Preview: Jesse Taylor
"I really like Amir, but I felt that stylewise I definitely would have beaten him. I was proud for him, but it was really hard to watch, knowing that that was my fight."
"They (Team Quest) really helped me get my stuff together and let me know that if I want to do good, make money in this sport, and realize my potential that I gotta put my mind to it and not be out there drinking all the time". "I’ve never trained this hard and been this serious about a lot of the chances I’ve had wrestling and fighting wise. It’s gonna be a whole new me out there."
"I want to be the next Anderson Silva and I’d love to fight that guy down the road. This is something that I really love to do, and it’s a test at the same time, but on Saturday, I want people to say ‘that’s one helluva fighter, and he’s here to stay."

He might be
And picking Anderson Silva as a future opponent would be another lesson learned for JT.
all you gotta do is...
I’ve read that guys like Dan Henderson talked to the UFC brass about giving the kid another chance so they must see something in him. I wasn’t a fan of his fighting style on the show but he did give it his all and seemed to be a legit 185er so perhaps with training from TQ he’ll round himself out to be a more interesting fighter.
At the very least a big win in his next fight sets up an exciting match with him vs/Amir.
In this picture he looks like a a young big john Macarthy

Walk before you can run
Saying “I want to be the next Anderson Silva” before the first UFC fight is a bit presumptuous, especially since they have nothing in common in terms of fighting styles, background, etc. Taylor is much more likely to be the next Mark Coleman or Matt Hughes, though I don’t think he’ll be that lucky or good.
I think he meant in terms of dominance, and hey there’s nothing wrong with setting goals.
