TapouT's Punkass, Mask and Skyscrape: Strange MMA Spokesmen

I can never deny them their place in and contribution to the sport of MMA, but pardon me if I don't buy the "fun" element to their get-ups. I see it more as juvenile creative energy, but perhaps I'm a curmudgeon.

Well it is kind of meat head BS. I swear the other guy is trying to look like a cast member of Oz. And I’m not really sure what they do really.

But really, their market is MMA themed apparel. They aren’t shooting for the adult demo there, since most of their stuff would be positively stupid on anyone outside of high school or a frat house.

It's about Marketing

These guys stand out, like it or not.

I love the fact that they love the sport and are doing what they can to help young upstarts get their break. Cowboy Cerrone, Sherood Leggett, etc. owe them for the good exposure, clothes, money, and best off support.

Believe me, they ARE knuckle heads.

BUT

When I caught the episode with Sherrod Leggett, I instantly liked them. Sherrod had mo friends. His support structure sucks-mom’s ok, coach is ok-but he really doesn’t have a great support network and these guys came in and helped him out for his fight.

Hate them or not, they are fans and great supporters for MMA and they’re walking the walk and helping in many ways.

To add about the Sherrod episode… Sherrod’s piece of sh1t coach (a well known one) was a no show for his fight.

The TapOut crew called for help and [freaking] Josh Near halped him train and make weight for his fight.

Come on.

If that’s not awesome, I don’t know what is in this world.

Those guys helped this kid out and Sherrod came out and destroyed his opponent.

Great story all the way around.

I liked the Matt Major story also. Most people (including myself) have written off many hard heads like him, but the TapOut guys see talent in him and worked through this kid’s rough shell and helped him out also.

You have to give props to Mask, PunkAss, and SkyScrape for their support to the fighters and the sport by traveling around the country and attending many tiny local and major events.

This should would be a major stop down for me if they didn’t dress like clowns. Such a cool idea besides that part.

Yeah, I can't get over the silly superhero schtick

And I worry that having them be the “spokesmen” for the sport or legit TV will only add to some people continuing to write the sport off as a “freak show.”

The Tapout clowns put the WWF in MMA

So, if you think that MMA is all about make-up and costumes, then you gotta love the image they bring to the sport, but if you’ve always hated the gay, contrived and fake nature of WWF then you probably don’t have much use for those two queens.
