Quote of the Day 2: Brandon Vera Slams Dan Miragliotta

"Justifiable?...That shouldn't even be in that sentence, man. That was an (expletive) (expletive) call. I was talking, having a conversation with the referee, telling him I'm OK, and then he stops the fight. I wanted to know what I could have said. 'I'm fine?' 'Everything is spectacular?' What else was I supposed to say to the referee? Justifiable? That word should not be used in conjunction with that fight, ever."
...
"I watched the Kimbo fight and thought, 'Man, that ref sucks. I hope I don't get him in my fight.' Usually in the locker room the referee will come to you to go through the rules. I didn't see him until I was in the Octagon, and then it was too late."
-- Brandon Vera, still heated after the controversial stoppage loss to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 85. Vera has the opportunity to redeem himself at light heavyweight on July 19th as he takes on former IFL standout Reese Andy at "UFC: Silva vs. Irvin".

What's the difference?
What makes his fight stoppage so different from the stoppage in the Florian-Lauzon fight. Florian was mounted on top of Lauzon, none of Florian’s blows were damaging and yet that fight was stopped.
Yeah, it was that long. And Florian wasn’t going anywhere, Lauzon was stuck.

I’m going to disagree. Florian trounced Lauzon.

get over it
he should move on and get over it.they should just let these guys get knocked out cold.then they would probably complain that they didn’t stop it soon enough.
The fight should have went on.
Vera chickened out when offered to fight against Machida, but I don’t mind as I cannot stand boring fighters like Machida that run all the time. If BJ Penn fought Machida again, he’s win. Penn landed some good shots on Machida even while Machida was running away.

The stoppage was bad. Simple as that.
Vera was defending the strikes fine and waiting out the clock. If so many of us were aware of the circumstance, I would expect the referee to be aware also.
That said, demeaning the ref isn’t going to change the decision. get past it and win your next fight.
"They said you was hung!!"
"And they was RIGHT!"
There has only been one event since, right?
