Georges St. Pierre Nominated for an ESPY

Georges St. Pierre has been nominated for an ESPY in the "best fighter" category.   You can vote here, but you have to sign up.  He is up against four boxers, including Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik, and Holly Holm.  Last year, Randy Couture and Quinton Jackson were both nominated, but came up short.  This year the boxing vote will likely be split, which gives Georges a good chance of winning if MMA fans sign up and vote for him.

In some ways he seems like a token Mixed Martial Arts nomination, but I think he's a good one.  Nobody else besides Anderson Silva has had a better summer to summer period since the last awards in the MMA world.

Not the best nominee ...

I would have given it to Anderson Silva over GSP. Just as long as it isn’t Kimbo …

Jeez, forgot about Anderson Silva somehow. I suppose you can make an argument either way. Marquardt, Franklin, and Henderson v. Koscheck, Hughes, and Serra…probably does go to Anderson.

Anderson Silva should’ve been the one to get nominated.

I’m rooting for GSP, but I don’t think he will win. I’m guessing the award will go to Kelly Pavlik. Such an exciting and skilled boxer.

Pavlik is awesome...

...I wouldn’t argue for a minute were he given the award.

Is the ESPY’s only for Americans? If not, Manny Pacquiao should have been in there.

I believe Pacquiao was there last year? I do agree, though.

Maybe they didnt want Silva giving his victory speech through a translator. Oh yeah and he has zero marketability. GSP was an obvious choice. Award shows are bullshit popularity contests anyway.
