Any time the UFC goes to England, you can bet that Michael Bisping will be on the card. MMA Junkie reports the details:
The UFC today officially announced "UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben," an event that takes place Oct. 18 at The National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England.
The event is headlined by a middleweight bout between England native and "The Ultimate Fighter 3" winner Michael Bisping (16-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and veteran middleweight Chris Leben (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC).
This fight was originally scheduled for June 7 in England. Of course, it didn't happen due to Chris Leben's stint in jail for a probation violation. I really like this match. The winner should significantly improve their position in the middleweight division. The UFC needs a compelling opponent for Anderson Silva. Bisping has been impressive since moving down from light heavyweight. He would seem to be in line for a title shot if he can defeat Leben. Not to sell Leben short, he looks much improved since being stopped by Silva in their first encounter. Either way, it should be a competitive match with serious ramifications for the UFC's middleweight division.
