Hmmm...

Maybe they are aiming for Alves vs. Carano on the next The Biggest Loser (diet show).

Don’t you actually have to try and drop the weight on that show? I don’t think either of them would make it to the finals.

How much notice did he have for this fight? I think it was 5 weeks. that is plenty of time to make weight. It’s not like it is a new weight calss for him.

If you’re going to bet Hughes you might want to do it now.

by Nick Thomas on Jun 6, 2008 11:51 AM EDT reply actions

WOW

Very disappointing, HOWEVER…

I think it is because of his boobs, lol!

Seriously, for a guy hunting down a title shot, this is a very bad, very unprofessional move. Even with the limited time, he should have made sure he was able to make weight.

I have trouble rooting for a guy who didn’t make weight, BUT he is fighting Hughes, so…

This from a guy who once got pinched for taking a banned diuretic in order to make weight.

You’re in the UK, dummy! No testing!

(Yes, I know).

crazy.

How does a guy who works with ATT come in so heavy? Was he camped out at a bar in the UK the last week gorging on fish and chips and heavy lager?

I hope Hughes tools him.

Geez...

as with Carano 4 lbs shows a complete lack of effort in my eyes. I’m pulling for Hughes a little bit more than I was before.

Agreed

No excuse for this. Hope Hughes destroys him (but seriously doubt it).

by jebushchrist on Jun 6, 2008 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Not to mention

He doesn’t even have American Gladiators as an excuse.

by Gong on Jun 6, 2008 1:07 PM EDT up reply actions

He does have “short notice” as an excuse, though. Still, this kinda sucks.

by Richard Wade on Jun 6, 2008 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions

honestly though?

That’s a sweet excuse. I’d kill to be able to say, “Sorry I screwed up on this _, guys. I was busy with American Gladiators and all…”
That would be the awesome.

Wow

I can’t imagine how both Carano and Alves missed the memo that it’s bathing suit season. Hello! A little less cake, ladies!

He has one loss and he is 25 years old. His loss was to Crocop. He is still young. This fight is to make him look good. That being said, maybe he didn’t prepare well. He does look awful.

I agree...

I’m not saying he doesn’t have the skills…he just doesn’t look well at all.

I remember checking out his vid on ufc’s website, and it seems as if he had an injury of some sort… Doesn’t seem like he’s really up for the fight from that vid either…
