Luis Cane: A New Heel for the UFC
If Luis Cane manages to beat Jason Lambert at UFC 85, the fans will have a new villain to boo and hiss at. Here's Cane talking to Sherdog about his DQ loss to James Irvin:
Sherdog.com: Your first performance was at UFC 79 and you had a controversial outcome. You were disqualified against James Irvin for striking his face with your knees when he was on the ground. You've got angry with him, saying he was pretending to be injured to stop the fight. Tell us a little about this whole situation.
Cane: The result of this fight was a little disappointing because I was hired by the UFC thinking I would face a real athlete. But in the end, I fought against a coward in a no-heart fight. If that kneeing really knocked him out, any child could do the same. But this fight is already part of the past. My new fight against Lambert will be my true first combat at the event and this time against a real fighter.
Wow, I wonder how Cane will react if Lambert objects to Cane cheating like Irvin did.
Cane also tips his hand on his gameplan to beat Lambert:
Sherdog.com: Jason Lambert is a tough and very experienced guy. What did you see about his game?
Cane: Lambert is an experienced guy. He had already fought against athletes like Marcos Ruas, Tim Sylvia, and he has proved how he can be dangerous when he knocked out Renato Sobral. He is a very strong guy on top, but let's see how he behaves playing underneath.
I threw in a Cane fight from Art of War so you can see why the UFC signed the jerk, he is good.

As much as it pains me to say this, mma needs these kind of guys.
It is just good for drama and setting up fights. Good fights involving a little bad blood are an easy sell…Tito/Ken, BJ/Sherk, Chuck/Tito, so on.
Of course, the key is good fights/fighters. If a guy is an a-hole and not very good, it kind of turns into a joke.

Tapout
Is there a MMA event that Tapout doesn’t sponsor?

Tough fight
It’s still a very tough fight for him if it hits the floor. Lambert’s size and power while in top control is formidable. Cane could potentially give Lambert a run on the feet as we saw Gouveia exploit his horrible technical striking. There is no doubt that Lambert will have worked on that for this fight.
Cane is a decent bet though, and I’d make a play on it.

Cane is a beast...
...people are sleeping on him a little bit. Lambert’s striking technique is not so good…he has decent power but he swings from the hips which is never a good plan. He also stands in front of his opponent throwing when he isn’t landing and when you combine those two you have a recipe for…well…what Gouveia did to him.
