UFC 85 Preview: Michael Bisping

"I’ve lost, sure, but never had my arse properly kicked. I don’t think Anderson Silva would kick my arse, either. Nobody’s going to make a fool out of me."
"I’ve watched the (Alan Belcher vs. Jason Day) fight many times." "It was a good performance from Day but, saying that, I didn’t see anything that worried me too much.
"I have to be the aggressor, push the pace and be first with my shots." "I need to beat him in all areas. I think I’m a better striker than him. He’s known for his jiu-jitsu but I feel mine is better than his. I think I’ve got better wrestling, too. I’ll be stronger, fitter and better conditioned than him. I think I’ll go in there Saturday night and take him out."
-- Michael Bisping guarantees that you'll never beat him down. I guess Bisping already forgot about his gift decision over Matt Hamill.

Youch...
he didn’t get beat down against Hamill. He didn’t look sharp but I’d hardly call it a beatdown. And I still don’t think it was that bad of a decision. ducks to avoid the flying objects headed his way

Either way the UFC is in a win-win situation here.
Bisping wins, it further legitimizes his move to 185, increases his credibility at a title shot and hopefully silences the naysayers that he’s only faced TUF level fighters with questionable credentials.
Day wins it gives them another 185 to market, gives them another Canadian to market (and likely sell-out venue if/when they come to Canada again).
I’m more excited about this bout than Hughes/Alves to be honest, but then I’m a Day mark so YMMV.
hmm
is knocking his nose out the back of his head with a knee a “proper beat-down”? i think that’s what anderson would do to him.

A gift?
I love how this sight uses fightmetric when it suits the writer’s purpose, but dismisses such “expert analysis” when it goes against what they saw. Fightmetric, this supposedly amazing statistical system (which I think it is, love it), is wrong in giving the win to Bisping then?
Bisping’s win was not a gift, it was a victory. Get over it, please. And bisping was not talking about defeating Hamill, he was taking about how he has never been thrown from one end of the octagon to the other. I don’t find that to be a lie at all.
Correction
A win under the 10-point must system, using FightMetric’s analysis.
What are you talking about? How does this site normally use Fightmetric to suit its own purposes? As great of a statistical system as Fightmetric may be, it is not used by the judges to score MMA fights. Instead, judges rely on a subjective standard that easily lends itself to controversy. As long as this is the case, you should get used to fights being labeled “gifts”.
