Some even dared to doubt my man Luke's reporting of the judges scores for the Kimbo fight.
But here's da proofs:

What is the X for in round one on the cards?

My guess would be any point deductions

I didn’t put much into JT’s performance in the second round, his striking was ineffective.
To me, this just shows the problem of how off mma scoring is. There is so much that one judge may see one way and another sees differently. IMO, they must come up with a more standardized scoring system, if this sport is to grow and become more mainstream.

I think that’s the problem with judging in general. When you leave it up to a third party to decide the outcome of a fight, you’re gonna get inconsistencies. I guess that’s why fighters are told never to leave it to the judges.

Well...
...one judge seeing it a 10-8 round one way and one judge 10-9 the other is more than just “a problem with regular judging”
I don’t mind the 10 point must system as much as most.
But, i don’t see how you could possibly give round 2 to Kimbo considering that he took 22 unanswered elbows for almost a minute and a half. I know he landed one flurry that hurt Thompson earlier in the round, but compared to being taken down, controled, put in a crucifix and elbowed 22 times with no response. Even if they weren’t the hardest elbows in the world that HAS to be a round won by Thompson.

Sorry, my vision is going, old-age-itis, lol. I didn’t see the 10-8. That is a crazy swing, but I see the 10-8 being more questionable than the 10-9 for Kimbo.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m skeptical of Kimbo and not really a fan of his, despite my views on this.
You know, I probably would have scored it for Kimbo 10-9 myself. But I’m not a judge and I put a lot of weight into the damage caused by strikes, not the olympic boxing elbows of JT. I’m sure they hurt more than they appeared to, but they were basically worthless, unless you consider them scoring blows. I also tend to judge the round in halves, so I had Kimbo winning the first half with a lot of damage, and JT winning the second, with little damage, thus the round to Kimbo.
I don’t really mind the 10 point system either, just that they need more consistency from person to person regarding what weight is given to:
Number of strikes
Damage by strikes
sub attempts
sub defenses
takedowns
takedown defense
position control
sweeps/escapes
ring generalship
aggressiveness
and so on…
It just seems to me that there is a big disparity in how these things are judged, even by us on the blogs. I’m not saying it is an easy problem to solve, but I do think it is vital for the sport as it gains mainstream acceptance, especially with converted boxing fans. Not that they haven’t seen some shady/controversial judging, but that they have so many less things to judge upon.

I scored it...
10-9 Thompson. I think the fact that Kimbo rocked him early means you can’t really score it as 10-8.

that i can go with. imo, it takes a complete domination/destruction for a 10-8 round. I have zero problem with anyone seeing it 10-9 for JT, that just shows a difference in what we saw, but 10-8?? Can’t get into that at all.

Yeah, 10-9 Thompson for sure, not 10-8. Kimbo hurt Thompson in each round. He just didn’t win any in my opinion.

Yeowch!
Hey there, now…
I was just pointing out that some of the media outlets were still wrongly saying it was 10-9 down the line… no doubt here of our man! Just saying there was something fishy about the other outlets reporting that way. Wish I’d posted a link in that post now so as to follow up and ask them where they got their info…
Still awesome that someone got the card posted!
