UFC UK: Birmingham October 18th

Fronted by Kid Nate.

The UFC's march thru the UK continues in October according to Robert Joyner of MMAPayout.com:

The UFC's next European show will be held in Birmingham, England on Saturday October 18th.

UFC VP Marc Ratner made the announcement on the Setanta Television, the UFC's TV partner in Great Britain. The show had been rumored about since UFC 85, at which Michael Bisping intimated in an interview with The Telegraph that he would possibly be on the card in Birmingham. The latest Brit signing Dan Hardy is slated to be on the card. The most likely venue for the show would be The NEC Arena

Could Lorenzo Ferttita working full time have an impact on this show?

UPDATE:  I wrote about UFC going to Birmingham here.  The plan for Silva/Okami was before this new fight with James Irvin, it is unclear if that is still the idea.  Anderson Silva now reportedly wants to fight 5-6 times a year, and they're giving him what he wants because he was so pissed about the Roy Jones fight being shot down.  --Mike Rome

Gotta love Anderson Silva. He loves to fight and most fans love to watch him fight. I get tired of the top fighters taking so much time in between fights. Chuck hasn’t faught since December. Noguiera faught at 81 and won’t fight again until December. Rampage hasn’t faught in almost a year. I understand injuries play a role, but it’s ridiculous to fight only once or twice a year. I don’t think it’s fair to the fans.

The UFC better keep Silva happy. He’s the best they have to offer. It’s too bad he doesn’t get the press that some of the other champs are getting. Hopefully fighting on Spike will give Silva a little exposure to the casual fan.
