Well...

seeing as how the world has freaked out over two small things he has said in the past…I’d be very cautious with my words too.

refresh my memory

what did he say that was so bad? was it something that came off bad because english is his second language?

There was...

1) “I was not impressed with your performance”
2) The post Serra loss stuff where he was classy after the fight…then supposedly a jerk in interviews afterward saying he didn’t train seriously enough and was a little hurt…etc

After the Serra loss, he had said something to the effect of, “I was not at 100% because of personal issues”, which got turned into a huge doodad, and had Serra making anti-french Canadian slurs against him.

Yes, mma is reaching almost tabloid gossip proportions trying to generate beef between guys.

"They said you was hung!!"

"And they was RIGHT!"

GSP represents the best of what MMA fighters should be. Always classy, always on a quest to learn more and improve his skills. This trip to Brazil is only going to make GSP that much more dangerous.

The sad thing is that Gordo jiu-jitsu isnt far from where he is and the training is much better. Gracie Barra is a shell of what it used to be.

GSP has trained at Gracie Barra and also Nova Unaio while in Brazil. He’s getting top notch training, no question. He’s affiliated with Gracie Barra in his BJJ training in Montreal, so it’s natural that he trains there some while in Brazil. He’s also getting to train with the boxing and wrestling coaches at Barra while there, so he’s covering the bases. Guys like Leo Santos at Nova Uniao are also incredible guys to train with.

I didnt hear anything about him training at Nova Uniao. I know they are great guys I just think with Gordo jiujitsu being only a few blocks away, training with the Gracie Fusion team is well worth it.

It’s safe to say that GSP is getting plenty of top level BJJ training during his trip to Brazil, regardless of whether or not he trained with the Gracie Fusion team.

Agreed

Everyone I know likes GSP. He is what most athletes should be, not just MMA fighters.

Impressed that he was able to pick up some Portuguese, always seemed like a difficult language, mostly because it sounds so different than the other romantic languages

by pr0cs on Jun 11, 2008 10:12 AM EDT reply actions

I think

It’s Romance language, not romantic. Romantic is a term related to love, while Romance relates back to Rome or Roman derivation. I could be wrong, though.

you are correct about the romance languages
