Tito Ortiz Is Smiling Somewhere
Tito Ortiz's value went through the roof last night as a result of Kimbo being exposed. Pro Elite needs a face for the company that is a skilled fighter besides Gina, and Tito is it. If they can sign Tito to a long term deal, it is worth considering sacraficing Kimbo Slice to him. Kimbo is already tainted now with that stoppage and the way he looked, he will not be a meal ticket going forward, even if he probably did bring the ratings last night.
Also, does anyone really still want to argue Kimbo Slice would have a chance against BJ Penn?

Quote from Kimbo at ESPN.com in reference to Thompson holding him down in the crucifix at the end of the second:
“He kept me on the ground for a good little minute,” Slice said. “I was waiting for the right time to explode.”
So when was this explosion going to happen? After the first minute Thompson had him down? Or the second? Perhaps right before the bell rang? Give me a break.
As for Tito, his value definitely went through the roof, and he could probably be treated like royalty if he went to some place like EliteXC that doesn’t have much of anything right now beyond a few handful of fighters. Although, if he had any self respect, he’d avoid EliteXC altogether.
I guess the biggest difference between Kimbo and Tito is the attitude. While Tito thinks that he IS the sport, Kimbo acknowledges that he is is trying to tread water in other peoples pools.
When asked at the press conference about being the face of MMA, he made a joke about his beard, then went on to say it was non sense. That the face of MMA belonged to all the fighters before and after him. He’s just doing the best he can while learning.
Tito on the other hand believes that he not on created the sport, but that he will single handedly carry it into the next century.
And where did you dig up BJ Penn from? Was anyone talking BJ Penn vs Kimbo, or do you just like to say his name?

In Lieu of a terrible fight, there has to be some discussion of Kimbo’s next fight other than “the grimm”. I think we can all agree that Rogers would make quick, technical work of Kimbo.
Since the fight, I have slept, and I am over the fiasco that took place last night. There is still some interesting fights Kimbo could be part of. I liked the idea of Kimbo fighting “Tank”. I still wouldn’t mind seeing him fight “Cabbage” or God forbid, Ken Shamrock.
EXC is not going to give up on Kimbo Slice. I think they will more than likely bout him against another semi-household name before they put home against Rogers.
Call me crazy, and I’ll go back to the shadows.
Cabbage...
...has always been the guy I thought you should put Kimbo against. But knowing how well he can take a punch (although he can’t seem to do so as well as in the past) he could cause cardio problems for Kimbo again if he doesn’t get KO’ed.
He isn’t a big puncher though…he’s just a big head for Kimbo to touch with his fists.

The Grimm
How is Rogers beyond just pure striking? I confess to not knowing much about him, except that he knocked Thompson out and now knocked out Murphy. But does he have any significant ground skills? I ask because you said that Rogers would make quick, technical work of Kimbo and I haven’t seen Rogers do anything technical beyond striking. Just curious what you meant by that ..
Since you stimulated a good point, I tried to research him. I found out that the point I made can only be backed up with the fact that he knocked out “Collapsus” in 2:24 (something Kimbo failed to do). He also has more experience (al beit against non-established fighters). In my opinion, he would dominate Ferguson. If you look for his youtube reals, he does have some solid ground and pound, but the guys he was fighting look like Gary Shaw. It appears as if his gas-tank has never been tested either. Moving back to the original point, This guy has finished all of his fights, and I’m not going to call last night a finish for the Miami Mystique.
But, thanks for calling me out, I need to think about shit before I post. Seriously.
Tito would be a big addition for EXC. He’s toward the end of his career, but his skills are still much better than any of Shaw’s larger fighters. I don’t know if they can sign him. Tito can sell. That’s all Shaw cares about. If this happens, get ready for Dana White to cue up the worst of Tito Ortiz UFC Unleashed featuring Chuck Liddell.
B.J. could beat Kimbo with Sean Sherk surgically fused to his back.
Two points
a) According to the internets:
Tito Ortiz was suspended for six months or until he gets his left hand and wrist x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor
Which puts him out of contention for a while, unless his hand and wrist are okay.
b) BJ would destroy Kimbo. I’d even give him the edge in striking. Kimbo’s knockouts look like they come from repeated low-level brain trauma, as opposed to BJ’s more technical striking in which you’re dropping people by hitting them in a way that triggers a nerve at the base of the jaw on the opposite side of the head. Kimbo might hit harder (though taking technique into account, he might not) but BJ is no slouch on the feet.
And the second they hit the ground, Kimbo would be screwed.
Don't believe a word I say, I don't train BJJ.
It's clear to me ...
Kimbo vs. Royce. Who wouldn’t like to travel back in time to a much simpler era. Let’s see if BJJ can still take down the goliaths.
