I think the real story here is that these media folks were excited about MMA and they wanted to see the best. No ‘human cockfighting” allegations here. EliteXC will improve their primetime product (as if they could do worse, right?). Now, I do think that we have to discount some of the spin, since this is FoxNews we’re talking about. Nonetheless, this could be an indicator of the public impression. It could also be evidence of the public’s demand for favorites dominating and finishing in the opening round (which I find boring, personally).
