F Gina Carano
I wasn't planning on writing anything since I'm in the middle of moving across the country, but I finally get to my hotel at 4 AM and find out Gina Carano failed to make weight...again.
Seriously? It's one thing if its an isolated thing because of the gladiator show, but this is another example in a repeated pattern. Gina's been handed stardom on a silver platter, and she has disrespected not only that opportunity, but the sport itself.
Gina needs to make a decision about whether she wants to fight or whether she wants to be a TV/movie star. If she wants to go the actress route, that's fine. But stop pretending to be a fighter if your heart isn't in it. There's plenty of women who deserve the spot you have, and it's a shame that you're piddling on it.

is she single?
If so, I’ve got just the guy for her.

What are the weight classes for women’s MMA anyway? The fight was suppose to be 140 but other fights are at 135. So why isn’t there just a 135 and 145 and she could fight 145. I understand there probably isn’t enough women fighters to fill two separate weight divisions.
The 140 class...
...is one that EXC made basically to be “ginaweight” it wasn’t a set weight class but it was a weight that she should have been able to cut to and be big…etc.
So she basically is not making a weight which was created FOR HER.

I feel the same way. I’ve been reading this blog for a while, but this made me actually sign up to post. I can’t believe that they made up a weight for her, than when she can’t even make the weight it doesn’t seem to be a big issue. I dropped some money on Young, I feel like they should have sent Carano back to the sauna to keep cutting. I can’t help but thing she gave up the cut, cos she knew that it wouldn’t be a big deal and only cost her some $.
I never thought I’d want to see a woman get KTFO, but that’s what I’ll be hoping for tonight.

At least for Kaitlin the 12% (or whatever it was) of Carano’s purse was probably equal to 50% of hers, so at least there’s one positive for her.

Just look at the difference
I know that this might be a little trivial, but in Carano’s defense you just need to look at the difference in their upper body. I have talked to a couple of the girls that are into the sport and that I work with and they all agree that it could be a couple pound difference between Carano and Young. Carano has never been good at making weight, so whats new?? Maybe they need to find some girls that will fight her at the 145 weight class. When there aren’t enough good fighters, you sometimes have to make exceptions. Regardless it will be a great fight and I could care less that there is a few pound difference between the two fighters.
