God damn...

Kaitlin is a beast. I’m pulling for her for so many reasons. 1) I put a BIG bet down on her. 2) She is a wonderful personality. 3) She is a wonderful fighter. 4) SHE TAKES BEING A FIGHTER SERIOUSLY…

Thanks, you’re always quick with the pics.

Gary Shaw is really out of shape. It is destracting me, but I think that is my own problem.

Who is the guy in the green shirt in the Scott Smith photo? I can think of his name.

by szucconi on May 30, 2008 4:40 PM EDT up reply actions

That’s Ganyao Fairtex in the green shirt behind Scott Smith.

One thing I have to point out...

Is that if I hear any guy calling Gina fat because she didn’t make 140 I am going to want to punch them in the brain. Lazy for seemingly not even attempting the cut…sure. Unprofessiona? ABSOLUTELY. But she is hardly “fat.”

Calling her fat is just a lazy way of calling her lazy. I mean who wants to break out that extra syllable?

Thank you. Bothers me every time. People play it off like it’s the same thing, but really? Way different connotations.

Suddenly I’m all about Young.

Do you guys moderate the comment threads much? If not, I’m seriously impressed with the level of discussion here.

Nope...

I’ve only ever deleted spam. I don’t think the other guys do much by way of moderation either.

Must just be the high quality of the articles that keeps away the trolls.

Nah,

It the fact that you have to log in – that cuts back on 99% of the idiots.

Doesn’t stop me, mine you.

That 1% is an enormous amount of people. I used to spend about five minutes every day just deleting all the spam on Beyond the Boxscore. Hopefully these guys have some kind of filter nowadays.

Guys, you should really host the pictures on your own server, instead of using up someone else’s photobucket bandwidth.

fixed it for you!!

This is what a hot, female fighter looks like when they take weigh-ins and fights seriously. Atta girl.

Damn, she looks good!

Could be an interesting fight.

Great insight. Great interview. Thanks. I would still like to know if you get a pound for catch weight fights or not. I don’t think she even knows. It is stupid that its even an issue, it catch weight for god sake. You should contract the fight at a weight that you can make. Any weight.

by szucconi on May 30, 2008 6:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Is this even a catch weight in EXC? Isn’t it just the weight class limit?

by FRANKIE on May 30, 2008 6:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I was rooting for Young anyway, but...

... the whole weigh in fiasco’s just made me root for her that much harder. The discrepancy doesn’t seem too bad, hopefully Young’s training and preparedness can counter it.

by Gong on May 30, 2008 6:17 PM EDT reply actions

Young is looking good. She looks very determined. I think Gina may be stretching herself a bit between American Gladiators and fighting. I don’t think her head is in the game. We’ll see what happens.

I have to agree with you guys. A few days ago I was all about Ms. Carano, but the interview Mr. Luke did with Ms. Young was a huge part of changing my mind, and now the weight thing shows how lazy Ms. Carano is (or how lightly she is taking the fight).

Ms. Young converted me.

by mythbuster on May 30, 2008 6:52 PM EDT reply actions

wow

I’m surprised to see that the odds lines haven’t moved more into Kaitlyn’s favor especially after the weigh in debacle and Carano only training for like a month for the fight.

Not that she looks fat but Carano doesn’t look depleted at all. I wonder if she even cares about fighting anymore. I read somewhere that she was forced to take the fight if she wanted to do a second season of American Gladiators.

Go Young.

I know this is off-topic, but given that Carano is known for being the physically attractive female fighter, am I the only guy here who thinks Young is better looking? I’ve never really understood the fuss about Carano’s looks.

by idefinecagefighter on May 31, 2008 7:26 AM EDT reply actions

I agree…Young is better looking.

by Tha Realness on May 31, 2008 10:51 AM EDT up reply actions

And... no.

Side by side, Gina’s face is much nicer. And when she’s actually in shape, the body too. :-)

After the fight, Gina looked WAY better unless you have a thing for bruises and swelling.
