The audio of Tito and Dana talking over each other etc. wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Also, I don’t understand the guy from the newspaper defending the columnist here. Dana is right when he says it’s bad journalism. Just because somebody writes an opinion piece, it doesn’t mean they have free reign to abandon basic journalistic ethics. Most columnists were long-time reporters before getting a column. That is a promotion often designated to those who were excellent in the field.

What the guy said about the headline being plucked out of the story by an editor is 100 percent correct, though. It’s pretty easy to chance the spirit of any chunk of text by throwing on an incendiary headline. But he still should have known how extreme an off-the-cuff remark like the “White Don King” would be construed by anyone who’s familiar with Don King (or Dana White).
