EliteXC Lines

There are some very interesting lines up over at Bodog, which you can sign up for and get a discount here.

Here are the lines:

Brett Rogers (-240) v. Jon Murphy (+190)

Carlton Haselrig (-170) v. Carlos Moreno (+140)

Gina Carano (-450) v. Kaitlin Young (+300)

Phil Baroni (-125) v. Joey Villasenor (-105)

Robby Lawler (-220) v. Scott Smith (+180)

James Thompson (+400) v. Kimbo Slice (-600)

Both Kimbo/Thompson and Gina/Kaitlin have outrageous odds.  I'll definitely be putting some money on Kaitlin Young, and I'll consider putting some on Thompson.

Kimbo line is interesting. He originally opened up at Bookmaker/BetCRIS about a week ago at -350 and was quickly bet down to -465. And the difference in your break-even rate between -465 and -600 is only about five percentage points.

I think a pretty solid bet is Villasenor. I have 2 units on him at -110 on Bookmaker, so -105 is obviously good stuff. I don’t know if the linesmakers have a hardon for Phil or if he has enough of a name to get public money, but I just don’t think he’s relevant anymore.

or...you know...

bad for the growth of MMA as personalities like Kimbo draw attention which in turn draws money.

Kaitlin and James make this the only time I’ve ever genuinely considered putting real money on the line. The odds are based completely on hype.

I threw a small bet (to win big) on Thompson. I think Kimbo takes this fight, but those odds are a bit out of whack.

But I threw down big-time on Kaitlin (one of the bigger plays I’ve ever made on a fight). She’s the real deal and those odds just are shocking to me.

Brent how would someone go about setting up a real bet for a one time only thing?
I’ve never done this before and am skeptical of all betting sites.

Don't be...

No reason to be skeptical of the big online sites. Your Bodog type sites or sportsbook.com…places like that are major and have big reputations. I don’t really know how you would go about making a play on MMA outside of the sites. I’m not exactly an expert at finding a real bookie and honestly I trust places like Bodog more than I trust Jim at the sportsbar to pony up my winnings.

As a matter of fact I’ve never been stiffed by an online site but have had a “Jim the book” type guy stiff me after a big parlay win several years back.
