According to MMAWeekly.com.

Great fight and a big challenge for Danzig. What say you?

[UPDATE] 15rounds.com is reporting Karo Parisyan will also be on the card. Plus Manny Gamburyan vs. Rob Emerson.

Sweet match. I like the way 87 is coming together. These are all fun match-ups. I think the main event has the most potential to be a dull fight thus far, but St. Pierre probably won’t let that happen.

Big Test – I’d say so! Mac is a great fighter, but not sure if he is ready for Guida.

I like both guys. I just hope for a good fight, honestly.

And

...the great thing is that these are both guys who FIGHT. I don’t know if Mac can handle Guida’s wrestling, but isn’t Clay actually a pretty small 155? There’s always talk of him dropping to featherweight.

Don't believe a word I say, I don't train BJJ.

nice match-up….guida always entertains, good test for mac

the card so far…...
-Georges St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch
-Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta
-Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring
-Cheick Kongo vs. Dan Evensen
-Mac Danzig vs. Clay Guida

i’m hoping they can work my man Karo into this card, maybe. time for him to get back in the game …..

Man, I already knew about this, but the name Dan Evensen sure does jump off the page here. I know Kongo lost his last fight, but couldn’t they find somebody we’ve heard of to fight him?

Danzig is done.

Danzig will be exposed for what he truly is, a mediocre fighter. Guida is going to destroy him.

This will be fun to watch cuz Danzig is a cocky SOB…

I doubt that severely. Guida is a good wrestler with some hard punches, but he’s too wild. Danzig is going to make him pay for an early mistake. Mac is easily the more well-rounded fighter.

Guida is a gatekeeper now...

...which isn’t a knock on him…I really like the dude. But, he certainly isn’t at the upper end of the UFC division (3-3 in the UFC) and he seems to be the guy they use to see if people should be moved into contention or not. It’s a good spot for him honestly.

I also really like Guida. I was rooting like crazy for him against Huerta. But he got sloppy in the third and Roger made him pay. I see Danzig doing the same, but probably earlier in the fight. Mac isn’t as gifted as Huerta, but I think he’s more technical at this stage in their respective careers.

If Clay does lose, I would he sad to see UFC release him, because every one of his fights has been exciting. Beating Aurelio was very impressive.

At the same time...

I’d kind of like to see Guida in EXC or somewhere else where he can constantly get featured and could be a top guy. The LW division in the UFC is DEEEEEP but a division like that in EXC could use some shoring up. It’d be a nice move.

They heard you Rob. Karo is on the card. =)

cool!!! I’m a Karo nuthugger through thick and thin…..not gonna get down him after a loss…. i fgured this would be a good spot for him….gives him enough time to clear his head after the loss and get ready to get back in the octagon….

by robnashville on May 25, 2008 7:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I think the loss can be a good thing for him. With the idea of waiting for a shot in his mind, he fought his last 2 fights very conservatively. I figure now that he has to prove himself again we will see the aggressive Karo of old.

There’s lots of possibilities for an interesting fight. I’d like to see him go in and fight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Johnson is still green, but he has hard hands and good wrestling. It would be an exciting fight. I’d also like to see him face Marcus Davis if Davis wins in the UK, but that might be too quick a turnaround.

Johnson vs. Davis

...I’d pay money just to see Rumble and Davis scrap. Karo/Johnson is nice…but Davis/Johnson would be explosive.
