Kimbo Slice Detractors Are Anything But Racist
Nope, definitely not racist. Not one bit. He's just saying is all, right?

How dare you insult a black man!? When you get back from your klan meeting, I want an answer.

Right
Because the part of the quote that I have the most problems with is “Man, that is hard to look at” and not “deformed silvabacks head”, right?
I know, I was being sardonic. Calling a black man a “deformed silverback” definitely has racial undertones, I fully agree.

Maybe
Do you think white people are naturally inferior?
And wouldn’t he be more of an orangutan given his size?
Forrest totally looks like a chimp. But, once again, you can criticize white males all day long and it’s totally PC, so have at it.

how about this?
How about you both admit that calling a black man a “deformed silverback” has racial undertones and that it’s ok to say Forrest Griffin might slightly resemble a chimp. I mean, to some extent we ALL slightly resemble apes and chimps, so Forrest might qualify more than others. But if we are going to pretend that calling a black man a gorilla isn’t racially charged, I’ll leave you two to play in the sandbox together.
I don’t think he was contending that.
Anyway, it would take a total moron to ignore that those comments are indeed racist. But these kinds of posts smack of an incorrect implication that all Kimbo detractors are therefore racist. I’m sick of hearing about the guy, but I assure you it has nothing to do with race.
People criticize Kimbo’s fighting credentials, and they have every right to do so. Invariably, there will be blog posts/obligatory quotes from Bas Rutten claiming that anyone who dismisses Kimbo is ignorant etc. Chuck and Kimbo were calling each other out on the internet and it was somehow Chuck who was out of line. Chuck has never backed down from the best guys in the world, while Slice is still fighting James Thompsons and Tanks Abbotts. Bas Rutten and all of Kimbo’s fans need to let this guy do his talking in the ring/cage against real fighters.
Whoever said Kimbo looks like a silverback is clearly ignorant. But people who question Kevin Ferguson’s dubious MMA credentials aren’t racist by association.
They took our JOBS!
I think many people might object to your pontification and generalization of all Kimbo haters. People don’t think he’s fought anyone tough yet. Shit, how many “Fedor’s over-hyped” comments does any post get?
Fedor Emelia-Fucking-Nenko. I think Kimbo should be honored. :)
Additionally there’s a lot of people in that thread defending Kimbo. I don’t think its only “The Blacks, Gays, and Liberals” doing it, either. I’m sure there’s a hetero whitey or two in there.
I, personally appreciate your disgust with those that are saying racist shit about him, but please also realize that you’re promoting their bullshit and dismissing those who have legitimate reservations about promoting a guy who’s largely popular for looking like a badass version of Hellboy from the Bahamas who punches people in his backyard to the main event of a MMA’s first show on network TV.
Whew, that’s a lot of run-on.
I guess, being a Kimbo fan, I get sick of the racist shit too. But I’m just not interested in ignorant pointless blather in general, and stay away from the UG and whatnot.
I never said it wasn’t racially charged. I think it likely was, but you need to think about if it really is true. Does this man resemble a silverback more then the average person or as much as Forrest Griffen looks like a chimp. I say he does not. I think he has crazy eyes and wild hair, but he doesn’t look like a primate more then my brother does. I think Ryo Chonan really does look like a Piranha and my brother resembles a half breed of man and ape. I need to have a long talk with my mother.
Ok
“But these kinds of posts smack of an incorrect implication that all Kimbo detractors are therefore racist. I’m sick of hearing about the guy, but I assure you it has nothing to do with race.”
Ok, I always appreciate input, but haven’t I always stated not every Kimbo detractor is racist. I’ve said a thousand times. OF COURSE not every one is racist. In fact, its a small but noticeable minority.
I think the problem is that you chose to make the headline refer to “Kimbo Slice Detractors” being racist, not “some” or “a noticeable minority” and then you chose to make the entire post be one cherry-picked comment (that isn’t even there anymore) in the midst of more than 80 comments that are almost entirely focused on Kimbo Slice’s hype and lack of showing anything in the cage yet. That combination makes it seem like you are saying that Kimbo haters - all or most - are racist. It might not be what you mean, but it’s not an unfair reading of this post.

I think..
...what I’d say is that not all Kimbo haters are racist….but most Kimbo haters are ignorant and refuse to allow anything to influence their opinion.
The guy gets hate for the hype he gets…which isn’t his fault. And makes a lot of business sense.
He has no skills…despite that he is growing as a fighter and has never once claimed to be a fully well rounded guy.
He is sponsored by porn sites…yeah? well I would be too if they wanted to throw money at me like Kimbo is getting.
It’s just hate that people refuse to allow the real world to influence their opinions.

Deleted?
It appears they deleted the quoted comment. At least I can’t seem to find it in reading through the comments to the post over there. Interestingly, almost all of the “Kimbo-hate” comments over there are focused on the hype exceeding the accomplishment, etc. so far, not anything related to his race or image. It could be that they are deleting racist comments, or it could be that there just weren’t a lot of racist comments there.
