Shogun Looking to Fight Liddell
There's an interview up with Shogun at MMA You:
MMAyou.com: If you fight Chuck Liddell, how will you beat him?
Rua: I want to fight him for sure, if possible in 2008. Let's see, his game on stand is very aggressive and dangerous, you must be very well prepared to beat him. Unfortunately I can't say how, maybe he will read this (laughs!).
MMAyou.com: Do you know when you are fighting again?
Rua: Probably September, I hope so.
The timing seems right for this fight to happen, but I don't know if we'll get to see it. I suspect Chuck will fight the Jardine/Silva winner, with the winner of that fighting Quinton. Frankly, I'd rather see the winner of Silva/Jardine fight Quinton in the fall, and the winner of Shogun/Chuck fight for the title early next year.

Fighting Quinton..?
Are we not even giving Forrest Griffin a puncher’s chance at UFC 86? Obviously Rampage will be the heavy favorite in this fight but to count out Forrest to the point where he is not even mentioned as a potential opponent for any of the above mentioned fighters seems questionable.
Rampage is a lot like Tito, only stronger with much better striking and power. Forrest got manhandled in the first round of that fight. He had a slight advantage in the striking department in the second, but was taken down a few more times in the third to seal the loss…
I like Forrest a lot, but I don’t think he matches up very well with Quinton at all. That being said, I like what Rome is saying here, only you can insert “the champion” instead of “Quinton” in his analysis at the end. I agree with both A) The winner of Wandy/Jardine deserves a title shot. B) The winner of Chuck/Shogun deserves a title shot. This way, we won’t be eliminating any marketable contenders to the belt after a potential fall title fight.
I still think Machida will need one more win if he beats Ortiz.
In line for a title
This is just my two cents on the LHW title contenders. I think Chuck vs Shogun has to happen. Regardless of his loss to Forrest, Shogun has earned to be included in the title mix. Forrest got rewarded for his win against Shogun with an immediate title shot, so if Shogun beats Chuck he should be one fight away from Rampage. Assuming Machida beats Ortiz, Shogun vs Machida with the winner getting the next shot in early 09. Meanwhile, if Jardine beats Silva, he should be next for Rampage or Forrest, whoever wins in July. If Chuck beats Shogun, he should also have to fight Machida for a 3rd loss,er…i mean try, at Rampage. Again, just my personal opinion.
P.S., if Silva wins, and Shogun happens to beat Chuck, would they fight each other? I know the popular answer is no, but now they are in different training camps. Would be interesting to see…....
