Houston Alexander's Future

Houston has lost badly twice in a row now, and with only 2 fights left on his contract, a lot of people are wondering whether we will see him fight again anytime soon.  Some have suggested sending him to WEC, which is not the worst idea, but I think better use of him would be to add him to the TUF 8 cast.  The tryouts are focusing on Lightweights and Light Heavyweights, and frankly, this may be a way to boost his popularity back up.  Who knows, maybe he'd rip through it knocking guys out and win it.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
I think putting him on TUF would be throwing good money after bad. They've already overhyped the poor bastard after two flash KOs. WEC is a great place for him.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
The WEC division is tailor made for him. It's just dudes that want to bang on the feet.  That's where he can succeed.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
heh, so true, I'm afraid if Stann KTFO'd him it'll really be back to Omaha for Houston.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
So you're saying he's better off going to the ground rather than banging on the feet?  I think having the chance to land a punch is his best chance to win and if you disagree than you're MMA-retarded.

I still don't think that his "chin was exposed" he got hit with a flush shot on the jaw and while the stoppage was correct it wasn't like he was stumbling around like a drunk afterward, he hadn't gone completely lights-out.  I fail to see how getting caught means you automatically have a bad chin.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
I'm not saying any of that. I just said that IF he lost to Stann it would be over for him. And honestly, Jardine rocked him with a punch from distance as well -- Alexander only seems to be dangerous in the clinch.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
Isn't he a single parent and has a daughter with health problems?  I doubt he'll be able to stomach being away from them for over a month to tape TUF.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
On top of that if he loses on TUF he'd be done. Absolutely not.

One more undercard pre-lim fight in the UFC and then let him dominate in the WEC. That kid Stann looks tough but let's put him against Houston and see what happens.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
I love that the state of the WEC lhw division is such that people are legitimately considering Houston as title contender status.

Well it's true.  That division is real bad.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
I agree with the WEC statement.
WEC needs more HW and Alexander has some name recognition now.

Re: Houston Alexander's Future
I was at UFN13 and he and Guida were by farrr the most popular fighters in the building.

I expect to see him in the UFC and against a total can in his next fight, to keep that popularity going.

And isn't the next TUF LWs and HWs?

What Alexander NEEDS TO DO
He needs to work on his boxing skills to take less shots on that suspect chin of his and needs to work on take down defense to avoid the ground cuz of his non-existent ground game.

He's got alot of work ahead of him if he wants to continue fighting in the UFC. I still like him for his brawler style, his personality and his devotion to his family.

Hope he can get it together before he's booted off the UFC roster.
