Confirmed: Chuck Out Of UFC 85 With Torn Hamstring

Chuck Liddell has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 85.  The UFC confirmed it on their website tonight, and included a disgusting picture that you can see here:

"Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell tore his right hamstring during training last week, and being the warrior that he is, he still wanted to fight, which is the reason why everyone in the world loves him," said Dana White, UFC President. "But I wouldn't let anyone fight with his leg looking that way. Let him heal and come back and fight when he is 100 percent."

Whit continued, "We're adding fights to the card and rearranging it so the UK fans won't have to worry, we'll still be bringing an amazing card to London and the O2 Arena. The UFC® always delivers."

It should be very interesting to see what they do.  Bump back a fight from UFC 84?  Pay Tito extra to fight Rashad in England and cancel the Machida fight?  It's hard to think of any realistic short term options that will draw on PPV, so I suspect they will try to move this to Spike.

Given the usual recovery time for a hamstring tear, I think we're probably looking at a September return to The UFC for Chuck Liddell.

That hamstring (or lack-thereof) looks yummy
This should go on Spike. I say put Evans versus Henderson. Why not?

I'd actually take Rashad over Hendo by close decision. Unless Henderson lands the big overhand right, of course.

That's an intriguing fight and would be a fine main event on free TV.  On Pay Per View it would be a complete bomb though.

Maybe Kalib Starnes vs. Heavy Bag.

Probably end up a draw, though.

Bad joke, not funny, oh well.

Re: Confirmed: Chuck Out Of UFC 85 With Torn Hams
I suffered a torn hamstring several years ago and still walk with (and especially run with) a bit of a limp.  Then again mine was a complete tear complete with the muscle rolling down my leg.  I'm not exactly a high level athlete though and I'm sure someone like Chuck can bounce back just fine.  But a torn hamstring is a bitch.

Did you lose alot of weight from the leg that was torn? Because that picture did not look the the leg of a light heavyweight who walks around 220ish.

Maybe they can convince Rashad to drop to 185 and fight Anderson Silva :D

James Irvin is the possible replacement
Ugh. Prepare to see a 15-minute LnP by Rashad. Easy win.
