Cung Le and Hip Blocking Throws
In the Frank Shamrock video I posted earlier, Shamrock mentioned how Le had good throws and good hip blocking. For those who don't know, hip blocking is essentially blocking or putting an obstruction in the way of your opponent's hips and then forcing the opponent around that obstruction. As a consequence of the throw, the opponent lands in front of the thrower's supporting leg.
A great example of this throw is judo's "uchimata" or "inner thigh throw". You'll notice that the tori fits his/her hips inside the uke's hips, thereby offering the block. The tori then slides the non-supporting leg high inside the thigh while simultaneously gripping on the uke's sleeve and generally around the same arm, although gripping variations tend to change.
Here is a collection of fantastic uchimatas from judo that show superb hip blocking. I'm not sure how much of this we'll see in tomorrow's fight with Cung Le and Frank Shamrock, but I thought this might help. Enjoy:

And Cung Le has landed some sweet throws in MMA as well. His san shou base is a really fun style to start with. I think as the Chinese MMA scene grows we'll see scads of san shou based fighters with great kicks and throws emerge.
