Frank Shamrock Breaks Down Cung Le's Game

This is a short but excellent analysis of Cung Le's game. The one area where I completely agree with Shamrock is that Le walks into power, which does, in fact, benefit a power-striker like Shamrock. Very interesting.

Yeah, I'm with ya. I don't like Frank much either. His arrogance and brashness get old, and fast. And, personally, I really enjoy watching Le's beautiful kicks. I just don't see Le pulling this off, as much as I am hoping that he does. Le definitely does 'walk into power', and my concern is that we really haven't seen Le fight any real talent in MMA. If I was putting money on it, my money's on Frank - but I'm gonna be rooting for Le.

Frank's knees are the only question mark in the fight to me -- Renzo was able to take him down with ease. Le won't be able to do anything with it, but he might be able to put Frank on his butt a couple of times.

Frank can work sweeps if he was put on his butt by Le.  I really don't see how Le doing anything involving going to the ground is a good idea.  But everyone seems so high on his takedowns that they want him to try to throw Frank around.

Re: Frank Shamrock Breaks Down Cung Le's Game
going to the ground and staying there won't help Le, but putting Frank on his butt over and over again will. Frank needs knees to work sweeps just like he needs them to sprawl or shoot. Maybe he's got that capability and hasn't used it since 1999 but I think he lost it with his ACL's.

Yeah, that wasn't targeted at you by the way.  I'm just saying, if he makes the mistake of not just tossing Frank on his ass if he is uncomfortable with the distance...but following him to the ground and trying to fight Shamrock there he is doing him nothing but a huge favor.

Re: Frank Shamrock Breaks Down Cung Le's Game
yeah but we've seen no evidence that Cung wants to hang around on the ground, he had side control against Morgan about 6 times and just kept doing nothing with it.
