Quote of the Day: Thiago Silva Trashes Lyoto Machida

Thiago silva

Q: Which of Machida’s fight impressed you the most?
A: I don’t know. Actually, there aren’t any of his fights I really like. Lyoto’s a fighter who runs more than he fights. He’s not a fighter who will knock me out easily. He scores points, and I’ll make it hard for him to score. I already faced the toughest fighters. I believe it will be more of a psychological fight than a physical fight for me.

Q: Which fighters have you faced that you believe are tougher than Machida?
A: Houston Alexander, Tomasz Drwal, James Irvin. Actually, I’ve only faced tough fighters in the UFC -- just like Lyoto -- who already defeated many top fighters. I’m on my way to the title. I want this belt, and it will be mine

Thiago Silva talking to Sherdog about Lyoto Machida, his opponent at UFC 94.

I actually think Thiago is going to get a TKO win. Am I crazy?

by lbk on Dec 8, 2008 10:04 AM EST reply actions

Just a bit, in my opinion.

by Mike Fagan on Dec 8, 2008 10:07 AM EST up reply actions

So excited for this fight. Silva is such a meathead. I love it.

by Luke Thomas on Dec 8, 2008 10:04 AM EST reply actions

If he wrecks Machida, I don’t think there’s anyone in the division who can stop him.

by cyph on Dec 8, 2008 10:11 AM EST reply actions

ibk—- who knows right? There’s always a chance. But yeah you’re kinda crazy.

Who knows, but seriously, Houston “I haven’t won a fight since 2007” Alexander is a tougher opponent than Machida? That came out of his mouth?

Third, his plan is to attack all the time and he favors the “crazy dog” who never backs down style.

This guy is tailor made to get fucked up by Machida in highlight reel style. I guess White does like him.

by toxic on Dec 8, 2008 10:12 AM EST reply actions

couldn’t agree more.
I can just see Machida’s response….“Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly”

Actually my fear is that Thiago is trying to set up Machida and instead of charging forward he’ll be trying to counterfight too.

Nah….

I pretty much assume everything in these prefight interviews is bull, but even as trash talk it fails. This is three or four different levels of failure. Machida talked better trash in that interview, and I don’t think Silva even came up!

by toxic on Dec 8, 2008 10:41 AM EST up reply actions

That is some good trash talk.

by Phildo on Dec 8, 2008 10:14 AM EST reply actions

I only hope this

fight lives up to the hype. This has all the makings of a great highlight fight.

Yeah… can’t wait for UFC 94

- Georges St. Pierre vs. B.J. Penn
- Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
- Jon Fitch vs. Akihiro Gono
- Karo Parisyan vs. Dong Hyun Kim
- Nathan Diaz vs. Clay Guida

by Nick Thomas on Dec 8, 2008 10:37 AM EST up reply actions

Assuming Karo shows up, that card is stacked.

by Derek Suboticki on Dec 8, 2008 10:37 AM EST up reply actions

Damn, thats the card?

NICE!!!

UFC is putting on some quality stuff here folks.

by xFenixKnightx on Dec 8, 2008 10:53 AM EST up reply actions

STUN GUN!

Karo is gonna get owned SO hard…

What?..

Matt Brown almost beat him. And Matt Brown sucks compared to Karo.

by jafotinatos on Dec 8, 2008 11:27 AM EST up reply actions

I guess we’ll find out about that.

by Richard Wade on Dec 8, 2008 1:27 PM EST up reply actions

Matt Brown is also far stronger than Karo. Matt Brown wasn’t beating Kim with better technique, he just overpowered him. Don’t assume that Karo would be able to overpower Kim so easily. It should be a great fight.

by cyph on Dec 8, 2008 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

I have heard Karo is sick strong and presents the knd of stength you don’t realize just by looking at him. I doubt Matt Brown is strongerst han Karo.

by lbk on Dec 8, 2008 1:55 PM EST up reply actions

Careful, don’t you know Matt Brown posts here under a different name?

by iiowyn on Dec 8, 2008 1:39 PM EST up reply actions

For the record, he shaved his goatee and mine is turning white. Suck it, friendo.

by Luke Thomas on Dec 8, 2008 1:56 PM EST up reply actions

Logic has nothing to do with this!

by iiowyn on Dec 8, 2008 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

Good ol’ fashioned trash talking.

Silva will wildly throw down with Machida and get picked apart and/or gas out and be ripe for the picking.

Machida >>>>>>> Drwal/Irvin/Alexander

by Frank_Castle on Dec 8, 2008 10:36 AM EST reply actions

Damn!

Way to hype the fight. Machida won’t be able to do to Thiago what he did to Tito. This should be a slobberknocker.

by Derek Suboticki on Dec 8, 2008 10:37 AM EST reply actions

WOW..

He already faced the toughest fighters? hahaha.

..now im actually sure he gets KOed bad. He’s the only guy out there who’s dumb enough to grossly underestimate machida. He’ll even the champ thinks a machida fight would be tough. But this guy says that james irvin and houston is tougher than machida? maaaaaaaaan you are smarttttt.

Thiago Silva is in for a rude awakening.

by Eugene Schelfaut on Dec 8, 2008 11:21 AM EST reply actions

This kind of trash talk gets smoked more often than not.

by Dooda on Dec 8, 2008 11:58 AM EST reply actions

He almost got knocked out by Mendes

And then doesn’t even mention him over guys like Irvin who blew out his knee in the first round. Total theatrics from Silva. I hope Machida embarrasses him.

by Day Man on Dec 8, 2008 6:40 PM EST reply actions

Embarrass people is what Machida does.

by iiowyn on Dec 8, 2008 10:10 PM EST up reply actions

Machida is gonna kick his ass

by J_Maddux on Dec 8, 2008 8:22 PM EST reply actions

When the time comes I will be putting $300 BE on Silva. I put my metaphorical money where my mouth is.

by Ubernoober on Dec 8, 2008 11:16 PM EST reply actions

So what is the money a metaphor for?

by Dooda on Dec 9, 2008 2:39 AM EST up reply actions

Bloody elbow dollars are a metaphor for my confidence in my ability to correctly pick fights.

by Ubernoober on Dec 9, 2008 10:45 AM EST up reply actions

You and me both, brother.

by Derek Suboticki on Dec 9, 2008 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

So it’s imaginary then. I get it.

by Dooda on Dec 9, 2008 6:54 PM EST up reply actions

Q: How do you plan to beat Machida?
A: My plan is to attack him all the time.

Say goodbye to your undefeated record Thiago

by brad23 on Dec 9, 2008 4:48 AM EST reply actions

Is there any fighter who ever says ’I’m not going to apply that much pressure, I’ll just kind of dodge him and pick my spots and hopefully get a decision’? This has Leben-Silva written all over it if he’s serious.
