Rampage will Quit Fighting for acting!

Here is just part of the interview! Check the rest out at;

http://mma.fanhouse.com/2008/12/05/quinton-rampage-jackson-on-wanderlei-silva-and-why-acting-is-e/

"I don't know. I'm not psychic. But I like doing movies and acting. To be honest, as soon as acting pays me more than fighting, I'll be an actor.

Why?
It's easier than fighting.

Because in acting you don't get punched in the face?
I don't mind getting punched in the face. It's the getting in shape that bothers me. You've got to understand, it's three months of work for a 15-minute fight. A lot of people don't understand all the pressure and all the -- I guess you could probably say stress or whatever that goes with training or fighting. I don't think anyone would ever know unless they've trained for a fight. You've got fans you don't want to let down, and then you've got fans who cuss you and you wish you could slap them. Whether you win or lose a fight you've got fans who say stuff. When you're a fighter, people look at you a certain way, they treat you different. Acting is easy. Fighting is reality."

~

As a Rampage fan I find some discomfort in his answers.  Sure he fights for the money, but is he not fighting for love of the game anymore?  I for one love training and seeing how much my body can take, then recover, and do it all over again.  It sounded like he's focused on Wand in the Interview, so who knows!

I thought his answer to this question was telling:

The first time you fought Wanderlei Silva you lost by first-round TKO and the second time you fought him you lost by second-round KO. What’s going to be different this time?

The only thing different is now I’m ready to fight him and the first two times I wasn’t. The first time I fought Chuck (Liddell) right before I fought Wanderlei and that wore me out. The second time I had all kinds of personal things going on and most people would have backed out of that fight, but I wouldn’t back out of a fight.

The second time I had all kinds of personal things going on

that doesn’t bode well for this fight…

I think we as fans read to much into what these guys say. You can’t take their statements at face value. you don’t know if they are serious, if they are just looking towards the future or simply trying to play possum with their opponent.

I train. i train more/harder than most of my partners. I train no where near the level of what a guy like Rampage does, so it is very difficult for me to relate to how he must feel going through that practice over and over and over. Look at about any athlete, and they will say it isn’t the fight or the game, it is the practice, the training, the camps, that signal the end for them.

Eliot Marshall: Bader won. Like I said in the episode, I'm not going to make any excuses. It's my job to be able to deal with when somebody's doing that. It's not his job to change up his tactics.

oh for sure. Don’t misunderstand me, It is a good post and definitely a very valid conversation to have. i just don’t think he is going to up and walk away or not take his fight seriously.

I guess I could have titled it “rampage will quit fighting for acting when he gets paid more to do it!”

But I thought the way i titled it was more intriguing for people to actually look at the post

all you gotta do is...

I don’t think we have to worry because there probably will never be a day that Rampage makes more from acting then he does from fighting.

Basically I had the same thought.
