I mentioned over in the liveblog thread right after the fight, that after the 2nd combination that sent Tapia to the ground, he looked like he was KOd on the way down. I thought Rosenthal was going to step in even before Torres followed him down and finished him off.

Tapia is delusional.

In his defense, Torres did hit him really hard. He has a right to be delusional.

Look at Tapia’s face and look at Torres. Big difference. Tapia didn’t get “caught” as fighters say because right before the Knockout he was dropped. He wanted a stand up war and he got it and got it full force. He lost at a game he thought he could win at. Torres at 5’9 76 inch reach is a hard match up for anybody at 135 regardless of there skill set.

My favorite quote from the Tapia interview was: “I didn’t lose, they stopped it. I didn’t lose.”

I can only imagine what Tapia would have said if he was knocked completely unconscious a la Chuck vs. Rashad: “I didn’t lose…my brain stopped it. I definitely didn’t lose…my brain was just like, tapping out. I wanted to keep going though.”

That’s as stupid as the people crying for a weight limit when Brock Lesnar beat Randy Couture.

If the fight would have went on for 15 more seconds Tapia would have needed a face transplant.

You know, if you look at Tapia’s right arm sorta flailing at the end you could say that he was defending himself, but his left arm was just completely flat and lifeless. Kid was out.
