Great stats, but hard to see with the colours

Wasn’t Nogueira knocked down three times? Or did the one right at the bell of the first round not count?

Basically this was a one sided fight. “Ok Nog, you stand here and Frank is gonna hit you over and over. All you have to do is stand here and look tough and confused.”

My DVR malfunctioned
or something and this did not record, but I am dumbfounded as to how this turned into a standup war.

See, I sort of expected the other way around. I expected this to be a standup war because I expected their BJJ to nulify one another, but I expected Nog to surprise Mir with it, not the other way around. You should be able to find the video online if you haven’t already done so.

CompuStrike stats
thanks for adjusting the colors on the CompuStrike stats. The boxes were designed for a black background, as seen on CompuStrike.com….Bob Canobbio

What’s funny is that it appeared even more one-sided that those stats make it look. I’ve heard people say that they thought that the stoppage was early, but watching Nog stagger and wobble after the fight tells me that he was done.
So on to Mir vs. Lesnar: Mir has clearly improved his striking game enough to beat a better striker than Lesnar, and his conditioning looked good enough to last 5 rounds. Add to that the fact that he’s got far better jits than Brock and the only thing on Lesnar’s side is size/strength.
So here’s my question: men, by virtue of that joy that is testosterone, keep muscle mass around even without much effort. But having packed all that muscle on with steroids, how much will Brock be losing by quitting? He’s already been looking softer than he did in his wrestling days, even on the day of weigh-ins where he’s at his absolute trimmest. Will he keep that size and strength indefinitely? Or will years of NOT doing roids eventually bring him down to looking more like a regular person?

You forget the key
Lesnar is fast! I think that Brock’s size and strength coupled with his speed and athleticism will nulify Mir’s improved striking and BJJ. I hope I am wrong but I think Mir caught Lesanr making a mistake in their first meeting that he will not make again.

I believe there is more truth
in your statement than you know.
Mir’s striking game was very one-directional. Fake left straight—>lead right uppercut—>left straight is not the type of approach that will work against someone looking to counter you – it leaves you waaay too open to counters from either side, since your head is traveling in a straight line. And while Mir’s striking was scary accurate, his hands didn’t look all that fast to me. Brock’s hands are at least as fast, and he packs a lot more punch.
For whatever reason, Nog was flinchy and kept jumping away from the uppercut, rather than throwing hard counters. People have brought up his potentially damaged field of vision as a reason, others his generally decreased coordination. I don’t know why he was so flinchy and gunshy. But I do know that even a guy like Randy would have been able to make Mir pay for his striking approach from 92.

Loaded question
There is no proof he did steroids. He bulked up for looks in WWE. Now he has to train for endurance, speed, cardio, and strength while making the 265 lb limit. He should be more trim and lean.
As for Nogueira, he was knocked down 4 times. He lost the first round 10-8. The punch that made Herb Dean stop the fight, his head bounced backward into the ground. That usually signals KO but Nogueira recovered ala Chuck Liddell. He was done.

If anything he would have been doing HGH and not steroids anyways.
I don’t believe he did either of them though. And I agree with the weight lifting theory.

The ONE time that Lesnar was formally accused of possessing PED’s, the case was dismissed.
As far as I’m concerned, innocent until proven guilty. And that includes opinion.

Wait, people aren’t allowed to have an opinion that he did steroids? You live in a strange world, friend.

Where has this been?
Hey great stat display. Could we get these on every fight?

i found it funny how Mir said that he wanted to break nog’s limbs but he didnt want anything to do with Nog’s guard haha..
I thought it was an easy win for Nog since i thought Mir’s plan was to grapple with him, but mir did the right thing.
I was thinking that the only chance for Lesnar to win against nog was to Knockhim down, let him up, knock him down and let him up.. then only go to the ground to pound him out when he gets really really rocked and force the ref to stop the zombie from getting up again.
Mir did just that and won, now its time to see Lesnar pound out mir again..

And then get submitted again, Frank Mir has never looked better and Brock won’t be able to handle his submissions Lesnar one day will be great but it’s not that time yet.
