They’ve mislabeled PPVs are free TV events before, but with this card, I suspect it’s labeled correctly.

Meh even for free its not that good of a card. I like Stevenson/Sanchez and Markham/Hardy a lot, but other than that meh.

At least it is free. Free is always good.

Marquardt v. Gouveia is a rip, but then I rather like Gouveia.

Also, for some reason I’m posting in British.

yeah, Marquardt vs. Gouveia is awesome.

Really?

When I hear Wilson Gouveia vs. Nate Marquadt, I do not get excited. I don’t think Wilson is THAT good of a fighter. I think Nate Marquardt is possibly one of the most talented fighters in the world, and should defeat Wilson.

Most folks were sure that Cro Cop was one of the most talented fighter in the world and would beat Gonzaga as well.

They must be hoping for something here to headline, because I just can’t see Gouveia/Marqhardt headlining. That’s like a Cage Rage card.

by D.Capitated on Dec 23, 2008 11:49 AM EST reply actions

yep, Cage Rage frequently has top 10 ranked fighters on their cards…

by dbcb on Dec 23, 2008 1:14 PM EST up reply actions

They have, actually, often in lighter weight classes, up until the last year or so. Even this year there were fights like Jean Silva/Imanari (with the latter of the two being top 5). Maybe it looks like a CR card circa 2006?

They should change the name of this from UFC 95 to Ultimate Fight Nite as not to ruin their reputation.

Already

I wonder who Stephan “The Triangler” Struve will fight. Probably feed him a can. Any thoughts?

Im personally a big Marquardt fan and look forward to this
They should take this opportunity to introduce some of the new heavyweights theyve been signing.

by Evil-Uncle on Dec 23, 2008 1:21 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

It looks like at least 4 heavyweights will be fighting.

I was hoping to see Marquardt fight Almedia.

Amen!! That has got to happen in 2009!

Eliot Marshall: Bader won. Like I said in the episode, I'm not going to make any excuses. It's my job to be able to deal with when somebody's doing that. It's not his job to change up his tactics.

Any idea how Almeida’s health is??

I wish the UFC had a disabled list, where we could go check up on injured fighters.

This is a pretty good card for free.

Diego vs Joe. Diego needs a win at his new weight and if he does will instantly be a contender. Joe needs a win to get back on track and beating the likes of Diego would show that he is.

Nate vs Wilson. Very good fight. i think Nate is a monster right now, but Wilson is rolling and this definitely has title shot implications.

Hardy vs markham. Another good fight.

I would rather see either of the top 2 fights than Anderson destroying someone in 2:55. Not that I don’t want to see that, but you get the point.

Very simple solution…if you are not interested or don’t understand how these fights are needed, then don’t watch. I wouldn’t sit around and watch something that i don’t care for.

I’d like to see Hardy against someone better. Markham as a follow up to Gono seems like a big step backwards.

But I guess the UFC doesn’t want to be too reckless with a legitimately good and easily marketable British fighter.

by George Lucas on Dec 23, 2008 3:09 PM EST up reply actions

I think Markham beats Hardy. Rory is really well rounded and big time under-rated.

All that Hardy really has on his resume is a split decision win against Gono.
He lost anytime he fought someone of note:

David Barron X2
Forest Petz
Pat Healy
Glass Jaw Yoshida

This is seriously quality for a free card. I’m looking forward to it.

Negotions with Spike are not done yet.

It could still end up a PPV like UFC 72.

Did you know we are in high demand, Laura?
