According to MMAJunkie.com new WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown (20-4 MMA, 2-0 WEC) and top contender Leonard Garcia (12-3 MMA, 2-0 WEC) have verbally agreed to meet on as-yet-unannounced WEC card in March.

I may be the only one to disagree with the comments above but
I don’t see why there is not a mandatory rematch with Faber. He is the true #1 contender. The fight with Pulver makes little sense to me; if Brown is hurt, Faber should be fighting Garcia in a de facto #1 contender eliminator. Jens just left Miletich, why not give him more time to train and a fight he can actually win? The end game, I think, is a Faber vs Miguel Torres superfight to headline a first WEC PPV sometime in ‘09, but it is predicated on them both being champs. I’m not sure how this current plan works.
It's...
the general way that champions who lose their titles are handled in Zuffa promotions. 1 rebound fight while the champion tries to defend one time…and then the ex champion gets the shot at the belt (provided he won the rebound fight)

Who’s to say if Mike Thomas Brown loses and Faber wins that Fabe will get a title shot? Possibly if Faber wins and Brown loses, we could see a Faber vs. Brown for a number 1 contender shot and possibly somebody like Jose Aldo could slide into the contender spot against Garcia.
That probably wont happen. But still a thought.
