Quote of the Day: Chuck Liddell and Akihiro Gono
"My next fight... I don't know, but I will come out and use all of my skills. Hopefully from here on out this style will be effective.-- Chuck Liddell steers away from Anderson Silva; wants Keith Jardine rematch in March.
"There's been a few names. We have Jardine listed. We want him in March."

"I took 2 [extra people] to Birmingham at my expense. I paid their accommodation, transportation and meals with my credit card. I came home, was stressed out by losing [to Dan Hardy at UFC 89], and wasted money on shopping to manage my stress. Today, I was shocked to see the invoice from my credit card company. The amount was more than I had in my checking account." "I had to take money from my US dollar saving account. When I withdrew some last December, the currency rate was $1=JPY115. Today, I lost money since the current rate was $1= JPY92.50. I wish I had a normal Japanese yen account; then, I could visit a luxury soapland (a type of brothel in Japan) more than 10 times with the money I lost. I have no money and no girlfriend this Winter. I'll spend my free time downloading Christmas songs at home."-- Akihiro Gono blogs about his financial difficulties.

I hope Gono gets to winning soon – he’s such an entertaining guy, and it sucks reading about his troubles. If he’s fighting Fitch next, then I sadly don’t expect him to pull in a win bonus there, either.

Gono: No money for yanky cranky
That is so hilarious. Culture differences. Can you imagine Chuck Lidell saying, “I’m bummed because I can’t go to hookers as much due to my recent poor performance in the Octagon. It will be a lonely Christmas.”

Props to Chuck for wanting to avenge his (arguably) most puzzling loss.
I feel Gono’s pain – I can’t afford whores anymore either. Fucking holidays.

Chucks done.
Even if he beats Jardine, it proves nothing. Jardine isn’t the gold standard. If he is going to prove his doubters wrong, he needs to fight one of the top contenders and beat him without relying on a single punch KO.
If he does fight Jardine, I hope the fight goes the distance. A KO in Chuck’s favor early in the fight will leave many questions unanswered. Besides Jardine doesn’t have a great chin so that wouldn’t even prove that he still has knockout power. If the fight goes the distance, we’ll see if he has anything to trouble the big dogs.

Wouldn't...
it then draw Liddell’s KO power into question if it went the distance? I’m not arguing…I just think if you’re going to say a quick KO does him no good then this fight is a lose, lose because he either puts down a guy with a suspect chin and gets no credit because of the guys beard…or he doesn’t put him away and then we have to question his power.
For what it’s worth Chuck needs a “get back on track” fight and this does have the storyline of him looking to avenge a loss. So I’m not going to argue with it too much.

Chuck’s biggest weakness right now seems to be his motivation – he wanted to fight Wandy, but not Jardine or Evans. If he’s looking to avenge his loss to the former, which was hardly definitive, he may come out as vicious as he used to be.

Wandy?
Didn’t he won against him already? Or is it Rampage?
I do agree with you though that he needs tons of motivation when he fights.. he seem to look over his opponents as of late.. esp. if he’s the clear favorite to win..
If you’re confused about “former,” I meant Jardine (poor wording – mea culpa) – I think that since he’s Dana’s boy, Chuck feels entitled to the big bouts he’s enjoyed for so long, and if he fights someone who is beneath him, so to speak, he doesn’t try for whatever reason.
